I don’t think she started as a music idol, she started as a model who did Gothic Lolita and lingerie modeling (kind of ruining any potential public image as pure/romantically inexperienced) and then had only started a singing career later after the time skip
True, but it’s not that idols have to appear as pure/inexperienced, it’s that they have to appear as available. Their fanbase (particularly the opposite gender) is what makes them and the industry money, and if the fans can’t picture themselves with the idol because she has a boyfriend/husband, then the industry loses money, so they specifically put in the idol’s contract that she can’t have any relationships. The Japanese idol industry is known for this.
So, if anyone took a video or picture or Misa hanging onto Light’s arm or saying they’re together or in love and it went viral, there would a ton of backlash and she would lose her job.
That being said, I feel like it should’ve been addressed, even if only in passing. Assuming, I rightly remember that is wasn’t mentioned.
