the jesus fic isn't just a random work of fiction depicting a gay relationship though. it's a /fan fiction/ depicting the relationship between real life gay men. i can't comprehend why you would want to read about someone you're a fan of putting someone else you're a fan of in a vulnerable position, one that's morally ambiguous and you clearly don't completely agree with. why recommend a work depicting larry negatively and creepily when there are so many fics with much healthier dynamics?
The short answer is because I like fanfic to be interesting complex and human and not a morality play. As I said explicitly in my recommendation post - I am particularly interested in stories that have Harry and Louis negotiating homophobia and the restrictions that puts on them.
But I have a few questions for you. Ā Have you read the Jesus fic? I would call āLouis puts Harry in a vulnerable positionā a terrible summary of the story. Ā
But kind of more importantly - have you read any fanfic at all? There are some lovely fics out there with very healthy dynamics and I really enjoy them. But itās not like āhealthy relationship dynamicsā are a defining feature of fanfic. The Jesus fic is not the least healthy relationship dynamic of the fic I recommended (thatās probablyĀ āleave you drowning til you reach for my handā although I think thereās a strong case for Harry punching Louis inĀ āgoogle says cut that outā)
I like stories about whatās messed up about the world as well as whatās good about it - and I particularly like stories about people struggling to be better. Ā Thatās hardly unusual
