See, like 90% of this fandom exclusively refers to the Hero of Kvatch using he/him pronouns regardless of whether the conversation is started by someone using something else; the UESP also uses he/him, official materials use he/him, and every character in Shivering Isles* defaults to masculine titles at the end. The citizens call the Madgod of Kvatch "My Lord," Jyggalag posits the title of "King" in his final contemplation on the subject, and so on. (*A handful of characters in the palace will continue to refer to a female player character as "My Lady," but this is because they're related to the Duke/Duchess questline and don't get updated dialogue in the postgame. They still call them "Your Grace," too, which is completely wrong when referring to Sheogorath.)

This is in spite of there being plenty of Daedric Princes referred to as Ladies, and at least two which intentionally interchange the gender of their applicable titles and pronouns throughout the lore.

Personally, I don't actually mind the use of stereotypically masculine titles in-game, as it all reads very gender-neutral to me in context—Prince is canonically a gender-neutral title among Daedra, after all—but I feel like it enables the erroneous concept that the only "accurate" Hero of Kvatch is a male character. I can use they/them or she/her on forums and Reddit, and the vast majority of responses will exclusively use he/him, as if attempting to correct me.

I've been in fandom long enough to know what it means when basically everyone refers to a player-created main character as a man, and it doesn't bode well for the reception of fanworks based around a version that doesn't fit that default.

Basically, the "issue" with this fic is that Korone is a player-made female character who becomes a god, and the core concept of the story itself is her stumbling through the acclimation process from the perspective of a male canon character who is fiercely devoted to her, bequeaths her a symbol of honor exclusive to his family, and is happier as her subordinate than he's ever been. She was also the dearest friend of the Chosen One, the last emperor of a demigod dynasty, a soft-spoken man who knew she'd die to keep him safe and took that option away, giving up his mortal life right in front of her with a gentle apology that he wouldn't get to see the new world at her side.
