Yesterday I got the most hilarious bastardization of my name yet: Cola
About 2 months ago my spouse reunited with their ex-step mom (they weren't actually married, but lived together for most of my spouse's childhood). We met at a local nature preserve with the dogs while the two of them caught up. She sent us a Christmas card and she apparently didn't know exactly what my name was or how to spell it, so she guessed Cola.
I'm used to Cory, Chloe and Cody. I even had one guy in college try to call me Collie and when he asked if that could just be his nickname, I said no because Coley was already a nickname and I'm not a dog. But yeah, Cola is definitely a new one.
This is why when I introduce myself, and people repeat my name (or one of the above) back, I say, "Nicole, but Coley."
