you do know that holding your urine for THAT long isnt healthy and can in fact give you false positives right? You're concentrating it and if your LH aren't that high, it will show you false pos
Have you ever done OPK testing? I mean you really do need to hold your urine for 2-4hrs/5hrs max. I dealt with opk testing with my wife, with myself when TTC and again now, I get negatives when I should and Positives when I should. Let me just break it down for you.
⢠A positive OPK is signaled by a ātest lineā that is identical to the ācontrol lineā in boldness. It can even be bolder than the control.
⢠A faint LH test line does not indicate the LH-Surge. Why? Because low levels of LH can be in your system throughout your menstrual cycle.
⢠The LH-Surge is quick: A positive result can last just one day. You may see two days of positive results (LH on the way up - and the way down).
Do not use first morning urine for ovulation tests:
Collect urine between late morning and early evening. And test at the same time every day!
Do not pee for about four hours before taking a urine sample (to avoid a diluted sample).
⢠Consider testing twice a day: With our very affordable test strips, this is certainly an option!
⢠Try to avoid drinking a lot of liquids directly prior to testing (again, so as not to dilute the urine).
Wait did you see thatĀ hold your pee for about FOUR HOURS,to avoid diluted urine sample.
SourceĀ http://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com/positiveresults.htmlStill donāt believe me okay no problem.Ā Here is what this opk testing tips have to say.Ā http://www.ovulation-calculator.com/ovulation-tests/lhsurge.htmTesting SmartThe first thing to understand is that an lh surge can happen in the blink of the eye - and frequently you will only have one day during your cycle in which a positive result will appear. The question is, how can you increase test accuracy and ensure you catch the lh surge? Letās look at some basic suggestions for improving results. When to Test: The first thing to understand is that lh is synthesized by your body in the early morning. Hence, collecting a first morning urine sample is not recommended when it comes to the urine ovulation test. Rather, collect a urine sample in the afternoon or early evening. The amount of lh in your urine specimen should be elevated (relative to a morning sample).Create a Routine: In order to ensure accuracy, test at the same time every day. Test daily until you receive a positive result - or at least until you confirm ovulation has taken place if you are bbt charting. If you have a short or irregular cycle, make sure you begin testing early enough.Twice is Nice: If you have āmissedā the hormone surge during past cycles, then we advise testing twice a day. Well, thatās easy to say if you have a free supply of ovulation predictor kits: Drugstore tests are expensive and testing twice a day may be simply too much of a drain on the pocketbook. On the other hand, consider using or augmenting your test supply with affordable clinical test strips (much cheaper than the big brands). You can find these online.Hold Time: Dilution of a urine sample can cause trouble and decrease the accuracy of a test. If you are having an lh surge but your specimen sample is diluted due to consuming a large amount of water before testing, you may decrease the likelihood of getting that positive result. Of course, never dehydrate yourself. That said, simply avoid drinking a lot of liquid in the hours before testing, and hold your urine for at least a few hours before collecting a sample. Also, avoid caffeinated drinks that may increase your need to visit the restroom more frequently. Caffeine has a diuretic effect. That means it makes you pee.Faint Line? I see a faint line and its almost as bold as the control. Am I ovulating? Thatās a good question. Its certainly tempting to try to interpret faint lines onĀ ovulation tests. However, as lh may be present in your system at low levels throughout your cycle, its advised to disregard a faint line and wait for the verifiably bold test line that says āIām ovulatingā. Lh tests are designed to remove the guesswork, so second-guessing a result kind of defeats the purpose!
They say hold your urine for atleast 3 hours.Ā
Still not convinced? Thats okay last one because I got shit to do.Ā
From CLEARBLUEWhen can I start testing?Ā Before you can be sure when to start testing, you need to determine your usual cycle length. The length of your cycle is the number of days from the day your period starts (Day 1) to the day before your next period starts. Click here to figure out on which day of your cycle you should start testing. The length of the cycle can vary from one woman to another, and can vary from cycle to cycle in the same woman. To make sure that the hormone level in your urine is concentrated enough for the test to detect, itās important not to urinate for at least 4 hours before doing the test. You can test at any time of the day, but it should be at the same time each day. Many women find that first thing in the morning is the most convenient.SourceĀ http://www.clearblueeasy.com/clearblue-easy-red-ovulation-test-faq.phpNow I know some say hold your urine for 2-4 hours, but the recommended hold time is a minimum of 4 hours. I said I held mine for 4-5hrs and for her to hold for 4-5 hrs, minium hold time of 3 hours if she canāt hold that long. I havenāt had a false positive because quite frank I donāt think you can, you either have LH levels enough to get a positive or you donāt. I am not going to go into any more details as I need to go but here you go.Ā I know I probably came off as a bitch oh well, but if you would of sent this off anon Iād been more polite. Anyway, have a nice day.Ā
TTC TIP: example of urine levels.
As you can see that sample 1 (far left) is clear, extremely diluted urine.
Sample 2 (middle) is less diluted but for opk testing it is still quite diluted and can give inaccurate test results.
Sample 3 (right)is orange colour, this is the colour you want your urine to generally look like when testing for ovulation to get more accurate test results.
So do you see the difference between sample 1 and sample 3 and why you may be getting inaccurate test results? You want your urine to be like sample 3 for best results. I hope this has helped clear any confusion or doubt up.

Pretty relieved.Ā
All my apps say this is my 'fertile' week, yet, all my opk tests have been *almost* positive. (Theres two lines, but the second line isn't as strong as the control line.) I was worried because its a week after my period & I didn't want to miss the window, but the website I just looked at said that you can ovulate anywhere between day 11 -21 & I'm on cd16 so I still have time. Also, I should be getting my package of opk tests I ordered off amazon tomorrow so I don't have to worry about running out. ;)Ā
