As a pale skinned butch, I'm not putting my girlfriend in a situation where she's the first Black person you meet.

The entire point of Butch/Femme relationships is to use proximity to conformity to protect eachother, so of course I'm going to leverage my proximity to whiteness as well to filter out bigots who might harm her.

My conditional privilege means that bigots are more likely to want to approach me or see me as 'model minority', so it's incredibly important that I don't take for granted that everyone who's nice to me is going to be safe for my girlfriend (or for racialized people in general). It also means bigots will be comfortable saying things around me that they wouldn't say around unambiguously Black or Brown people.

If you can't prove to me that you can be normal around Black people BEFORE you meet my girlfriend, I am simply not risking her getting microaggressed (or worse) by some white demon that can grasp queer intersectionality but somehow can't extend their activism to Black people.

And I do specify Black people. Because some of you are allies to people of color, but you're also very casually colorist and anti-Black.

If you can't take accountability when another white person who has the same privilege as you corrects yoy, you're marking yourself as someone who won't take accountability when judged on equal grounds in terms of systematic privilege, which makes racialized people around you feel unsafe to voice their own opinion in terms of your privilege because they know you will retaliate and deflect.

My name is Sitka (They/Them), and I'm a 2 Spirit trans person who's recently gotten a total hysterectomy. This has made me unable to work for at least 6 weeks. I've applied for Employment Insurance Benefits, but if my application is accepted, I'll only be paid 55% percent of my usual salary.

My girlfriend (She/They) also has job but I'm the main provider of our household, as she's unable to work as many hours as I can.
