⚠️things to remember if someone is experiencing an overdose⚠️
If you believe someone is overdosing, shout or shake them to wake them up. If no response, grind your knucles into their chest bone for 5-10 seconds.
1.) Call 911. No matter how h1gh you are or what they took the police cannot arrest you or them. waiting to call could be the thing that k1ll$ them. (good Samaritan laws come into play, may not always pull through but in most cases will)
2.) Tell the paramedics EXACTLY what and how much they took if you know. If they know whats in their system they're able to help them much more effectively.
3.) If the person's breathing is labored, faint, etc. lay them on their back and slightly tilt their head up so their airway isnt constricted.
4.) Watch their breathing the entire time until the paramedics come. Don't take your eyes off of them. Remove anything that may cause an injury.
5.) If they begin to throw up, IMMEDIATELY lay them on their side and make sure the v0m1t can leave their mouth. If they're on their back throwing up they can, and very likely will choke and die.
Signs of opioid overdose:

•Breathing is slowed or absent
•Slow or irregular heartbeat or low blood-pressure
•Skin feels cold and/or clammy
•Pupils are dilated
•Nails, lips or skin appear bluish or greyish in color
•Loss of co-ordination or balance
•Nausea/v0miting/diarrhea
•Loss of consciousness
Signs of a stimulant overdose:
•Chest pain with pounding heart
•Shaking or Seizures
•Sweating/Hyperactivity
•Raised body temperature with hot or flushed skin
•Breathing can be rapid with body chills
•Disorientation, irritability, anxiety or erratic behavior may be seen
If the person is not breathing and you know rescue breathing CPR then you may administer it.
To administer rescue breathing tilt the head back, lift the chin, and pinch the nose. Start with two breaths into the mouth. Continue with one breath every 5 seconds. The person’s chest should rise and fall with each breath; if not, check to make sure the head is tilted back and the mouth is clear. Keep doing rescue breathing until the person breathes on their own or until medical help arrives.
If you have narcan available to you remember that it may not always work, may take several narcans and that it isn't a substitute for medical attention.
Do NOT test the narcan before use and do not remove the narcan until ready to use. Keep narcan out of heat as it can null the effect or even make it unusable.
• Hold the Narcan Nasal Spray with your thumb on the bottom of the plunger and your first and middle fingers on either side of the nozzle.
• Tilt the person’s head back and provide support under the neck with your hand.
• Gently insert the tip of the nozzle into one nostril, until your fingers on either side of the nozzle are against the bottom of the person’s nose. Press the plunger firmly to give the dose of Narcan Nasal Spray. Remove the Narcan Nasal Spray from the nostril after giving the dose.
• Wait and watch the person closely. If the person does not respond in 2-mins, repeat the steps and give the second dose of Narcan Nasal Spray in box.
• Place the person in recovery position and dial emergency services.
When/if the person wakes up, explain what happened. Tell them not to take any more
drugs because that could cause another overdose.
Naloxone, the medicine in Narcan, wears off in 30 to 90 minutes. Stay with the person until they go to the hospital, or until the naloxone wears off, to make sure they do not overdose again.
If you do not seek medical care, stay with the person for at least 3 hours and watch for signs of returning overdose. Call 911 if the person is not OK when they wake up. When the ambulance arrives, tell them that naloxone has been given.
