tuye is so fucking good btw you don't even know. s2 is great for getting severely murdered situations that need more than one medic but those are rare, s1 on the other hand is THE single target healing skill. it might not seem like much but let me tell you, an on-demand heal+barrier that lets you have almost full control over the timing is better than a technically higher hps that doesn't let you control shit. if the situation is just right you can make it so that the next received hit doesn't even touch the actual hp bar, making tuye skip a heal before the next hit and thus activate her talent for the next heal. perfect against slow heavy hitters. invest in tuye immediately
i've been replaying early chapters with operators i haven't properly used before and minimal squad size, it's fun. discoveries so far:
morgan and xingzhu are best friends (unit who wants to be low on hp but still needs sustain + heals that only happen when you want them to)
indra and tsukinogi synergy (does more damage with dodge + dodge support)
santalla goes hard if you limit her range with the map edge (seriously i bet her reputation would be at least a little better without the range expansion on s2)
astgenne alter with s2 crowd control works as a sort of splash damage enabler i think? herding enemies into groups for your splash casters or artillerymen to aoe comfortably but like more extensively than just any decel binder
casters who don't behave get ambriel'd. except when she gets distracted by some dogs
bibeak is underrated as hell, she stalled two of those fucking ice cubes with NO HEALING just stunned those things mid-attack always forever. well not really forever, their attack intervals were slightly shorter than the time it takes for her to recover one charge and she would've started lagging behind eventually, but long enough for someone else to kill the ice cubes, which was pretty long. and she protected the dps from their aoe attacks as well, a straightforward tank wouldn't do it like her. anyway my point is, on-demand stun with three whole charges is awesome
many mechanics can be ignored with a well-placed verdant

Broca and Aosta actually synergize somewhat decently (Broccoli groups enemies up via aoe slow, Aosta can make use of his talent since the enemies aren't getting blocked anytime soon with all that slow and bind + their ranges and skill durations overlap nicely. only skill downtimes don't quite match) meanwhile Chiave has nothing to do with any of that he just uses robots to explode. third wheeling in his own gang. he doesn't even have an unnecessary attack interval increase on his s2
in today's episode of Not As Useless As Players Make Them Out To Be: Verdant.
the main complaint thrown in his direction is that his damage is poor and any other utility nonexistent, which would be a fair criticism if he was a dps or a support. but he isn't. what Verdant is instead is a low dp cost self-healing ranged attack bait who can take a one-shot if he needs to and then keep baiting attacks because death is a social construct to him. the often overlooked s1 might be a boring passive survivability skill but it does in fact make him even more passively survivable. his only task is to stay alive and he DOES that, so that your other operators won't have to. people shit on him and for what. being good at his one job
Ray s2 sweep by the way. sandbeast gaming is real and will hurt you from angles you couldn't even imagine because charged s2 + sandbeast range flexibility truly is something
