In happier news, the pullets are growing bigger and fluffier everyday. 😍 They're in with the older hens now and are very nervous of them. This actually means no fighting because the older girls just have to look in their direction, and the pullets go running! The cockerel, Red, is actually the biggest scaredy bb so far. Bless him! I'm sure he'll grow braver once his hormones kick in. With time, I know these young'uns will integrate fully. The new girls are feeling brave this morning! The wee black one was the first out, quickly followed by her sisters. It was so fun watching them discover the food and water. Operation Pullet is a success!! Today, I drove an hour away to pick up 6 English Orpington pullets. ❤️ The breeder imported her starter flock from England in 2012. I am so delighted to have found these babies! This is one of my favourite chicken breeds; they get so FLUFFY. 😍 I have them all set up in the quarantine coop where they will stay until they're large enough to integrate into the main flock.
