Annotum: open journal publishing with WordPress
Google's latest spring cleaning announcement just kind of casually mentions their work on Annotum, a scholarly publishing tool that has just been released. It can be installed from scratch or by using one of the 'Annotum' WordPress themes. The Knol migration aspect is pretty irrelevant as I don't know anyone who actually uses Knol, but the Annotum platform itself looks like a worthy alternative to things like OpenPublish. It's really easy to set up on self-hosted WordPress or WordPress.com sites and, well, it's just nice to see the barriers to open publishing getting a little less every day (and some good news come out of these seemingly-endless project closure announcements).
