Biography:
Poe was born in the sky and so, he expects to die in the sky too. Like a great Shakespeare story that comes full circle, or something.
As the son of a military lieutenant and a sergeant, an infant Poe barely got to see either of his parents due to their continued operations and was thus left in the care of his grandfather. By the time he had turned three, fully capable of walking and talking in many different languages, his parents both left the service to reunite with their talented boy of which they had already missed so much of and moved to build a house of their own, where Poe was allowed to plant a tree that would grow big and grand with him.
At age 6, instead of learning how to ride a bicycle like the other children his age, little Poe began to learn how to fly under the teachings of his mother. To say he idolized the woman who bore him would have been an understatement, Poe unconditionally adored her. However, by the time Dameron was 8, he received news of his mother’s tragic death after she had reenlisted in the military. Most people would have thought that knowing his mother was killed by something she was so passionate about, would have layered on a fear of flight to the young boy. But it never did. He wanted to make his mother proud – wanted to be as loving and kind as she was, which is why, when he was expected to follow in the footsteps of his parents, he didn’t crack under pressure or hesitate to take his mothers path to becoming a pilot.
During his 20s, Poe had succeeded in chasing his dreams and much like his late mother had been, was quick to surpass his peers, labeled Commander at only 25, with his own team of pilots who relied on his leadership. However, Poe’s ranks didn’t end there. By the time he was 26, Poe was one of the most valued and trusted operatives to his General, often asked for his opinion on things and was even trusted to work solo on a search and rescue mission by his 28th year on earth. The search and rescue mission was simple enough, well under Poe’s capabilities, but he didn’t complain. At the time of arriving at the location of his search, Poe lost control of his airship and quickly crash landed. He was lucky enough to survive and contact his team to let them know what had happened, but with a broken leg, wasn’t able to do much in terms of his mission. While waiting for himself to be rescued, Poe seemingly disappeared from his crash site, with his broken leg and proceeded to look for his missing person. After asking dozens of locals if they had seen a stranger, he was always met with the same answer: no, and had to face the facts that he had failed.
By the time his team arrived to retrieve Poe, it was clear that their missing person was no longer in the area and had to return home empty handed. This failure embarrassed Poe greatly and under the advice of his trusted friend and general, he was discharged for recovery (both physical and mental).
During his time out, Dameron found great pleasure in attending flight school, and evidently obsessing over what caused his vehicle to crash, so much that he decided to take a new path for his future. Always a quick learner, for most things, Poe studied to become an aeronautics professor and eventually moved away from his mild climate to the slightly more wet, New Disney with a new career on hand.
Secret:
