The kindest of his friends with a gentle warmth in his heart, Remus Lupin is a difficult friend to make though he is a firm one. Raised in the Welsh city of Cardiff, Remus can’t remember much of his life before the pivotal moment which changed it forever. The only son of insurance officer HOPE HOWELL and senior advisor on magical creatures for The Ministry of Magic LYALL LUPIN, Remus’ earlier days were described by his parents as simple but loving. When he was first born his father mostly cared for him, allowing Hope to return to work a few days a week which became somewhat impossible during Remus’ later years until he attended Hogwarts. Lyall hadn’t yet taken his job at The Ministry, instead spending his time writing and researching for his latest book he had been writing during Hope’s pregnancy. Though Remus can’t remember most of it his younger years consisted of sitting with his father each day listening to the adventures of Lyall Lupin. Favourite tales included how he rescued his mother from a Boggart to his brief move into the Cardiff countryside to study troublesome Poltergeists. Lyall Lupin was afraid of nothing and it was a value he tried to instill in his son from an early age. 

As a young boy Remus was happy and curious, eager to learn about the world around him and did not frighten easily, though when your bedtime stories were about ghosts, vampires and werewolves there was little left to be frightened of.  His brief time at Primary School had also been a happy one, allowing his father to accept the senior advisor position in The Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures to help the magical world with his knowledge. Remus didn’t miss being at home when he was at school. Popular amongst the other students due to his kindness and compassion he arrived home each day hand in hand with his mother with a new story or a friend in tow to gossip with over the kitchen table. Then Remus stopped coming to school. School like many things in his life became impossible, all due to the events of one night and one man. With members of the magical community and Muggle communities going missing Lyall was involved in the trial of a man who would become an infamous name in the wizarding world. FENRIR GREYBACK was a werewolf in disguise on trial for the murder of two Muggle children and had told the questioning committee he was a Muggle tramp which all but Lyall had fallen for. 

Recognising the characteristic signs of lycanthropy in Greyback's appearance and behaviour, Lyall voiced his concerns recommending that Greyback be detained until the next full moon, which was only twenty-four hours away. Lyall was instead ridiculed, causing him to lose his temper and was consequently expelled from the room while Fenrir was released, escaping onto the streets of London and hatching a plan to further ridicule the wizard who had offended both him and his kind with his comments. Shortly before Remus's fifth birthday, Fenrir followed Lyall home to his little house in Cardiff and climbed inside Remus’ bedroom window. Claws extended and teath beard he swiped at Remus, as he screamed in pain. Lyall reached Remus in time, repelling Fenrir with a powerful curse but the damage had already been done. Remus was infected. Every full moon thereafter Remus would transform into a werewolf, afraid for the lives of those around him and scared of the animal inside him that clawed its way out of him. His parents tried everything to find a cure for their son both magical and Muggle but could find nothing to help him. Concerned his condition would prevent Remus from attending Hogwarts his parents made arrangements to homeschool Remus but were stopped in their tracks the night before Remus’ eleventh birthday. 

Entering their home despite Lyall’s charms, PROFESSOR ALBUS DUMBLEDORE convinced Remus’ parents to allow him to accept his position at Hogwarts since he had already seen to it that the boy would have a safe, secure location to spend his monthly transformations. Moving to Hogwarts was a liberating experience for Remus. With a place to transform each month that didn’t result in him and his family moving every cycle he relaxed more into himself though he knew he could never fully let his guard down. He started by making friends with LILY EVANS, a gentle character and fellow Gryffindor who noticed how often he kept to himself. Lily was Remus’ first real friend and was grateful of her kindness. She never asked questions, only smiled and squeezed his hand at times she thought he needed it, which was more than she knew. The questions mostly came from the boys who lived in his dorm. JAMES POTTER was a loud and transparent boy Remus couldn’t have imagined being friends with until he was already in the throws of their friendship. James had taken a shine to him at first to get him away from Lily which Remus had noted though he said nothing till a number of years later. James’ best friends and his fellow roommates SIRIUS BLACK and PETER PETTIGREW, easily accepted him after James had given Remus his seal of approval and welcomed him with open arms into their little club of misfits. 

To the untrained eye, Remus didn’t belong with the three boys. He was much quieter, less trouble. But if souls were indeed made it was clear Remus, James, Sirius and Peter’s were made the same. They brought out a more mischievous side to him Remus had allowed to wither away long ago and although PROFESSOR MINERVA MCGONAGALL scolded him for his role in the occasional prank he still would enjoy the role he played. Despite his kinship with the boys, Remus still attempted to keep them at arm’s length, though a clever ploy by Sirius would not allow that to go on past their second year. Under the watchful eye of Professor Dumbledore, Remus would transform and roam The Dark Forest, before resting for a number of days in The Shrieking Shack and finally returning to classes. He would make up stories for his absence, but Sirius and Peter soon grew suspicious and followed him out one evening. Confirming their earlier suspicions they waited patiently for Remus to return before confronting him with their brilliant plan. Remus was shocked they hadn’t been disgusted by him, finding that with them finally fully by his side he enjoyed Hogwarts much more than he did his time at home. He graduated a prefect, narrowly missing out on Head Boy thanks to James and with close friendships he knew he would keep for the rest of his life as he headed into the world. 

Not wanting to burden the lives of his parents, Remus moved to Farringdon and settled into an apartment with his three best friends. He had a good support network around him, even from those who didn’t know about his condition. Remus had always thought to himself that if he was capable of loving someone he would have loved DORCAS MEADOWES. They enjoyed the company of one another in its purest form and that was simply enough. Given his status as a werewolf, Remus was refused a number of jobs before being accepted as a crime scene photographer in The Department of Magical Law Enforcement, working under FRANK LONGBOTTOM, due to a few kind words from Dorcas. The job was a gruesome one with people turning up each day murdered in one way or another. Remus and Frank were recently assigned a string of potential werewolf attacks they believed linked back to Fenrir Greyback. With the help of medical expert KEIRA GREY and Remus, Frank hopes to catch Fenrir and make him pay for his crimes though the pair have much more on their hands than simply Fenrir at present. Both members of Dumbeldore’s Order of The Phoenix, Remus spends a great deal of his free time training with Frank and helping The Order. Remus is dedicated and loyal enough to the cause to put in the extra hours and isn’t afraid to use the help of a few unconventional people to dig deeper into cases, even if he has to hide it from his friends.

BIOGRAPHY

Sabine is a local who was born and bred in Mistfall. She always knew her place in the town, and was confident to know that she ranked amongst the stronger of the supernaturals in town. Sabine only has older brothers, and this sibling rivalry gave rise to her ambition to not only be able to keep up with the older boys, but to be able to beat them. She always tried to take on the older and bigger wolves in her pack growing up. She would race with them and try to outrun the bigger wolves, she would practice fighting with the stronger ones and try to take them down. Over time she learned to be stronger, run faster, and fight harder than she ever thought she could. 

The two packs split before she was born, but Sabine is more than happy with the divide between the two. She thinks the Mitchell pack is asking to be the weaker of the two by taking in the bitten wolves and associating more with the humans. How could wolves lose their complete sense of self-worth? She believes full heartedly in the ideas of her pack and over time she started to work her way up through the ranks proving herself and her skills. 

About ten years ago, Sabine was able to raise through the ranks to become the beta of the Lunar pack. She proved her skills and her loyalty to the alpha and after being put through rigorous trials, she finally secured the position she had felt she deserved for a while now. Sabine is loyal to her pack, and with the murder of the regent, she is only concerned with seeing her pack through it and making sure that if there is another treaty they are properly represented as the stronger pack.

Past:

Jackson was a member of the Kenner family, one of two royal families within the Crescent Wolf Pack. Out of a desire to bridge the gap that had formed between the pack, his parents, and the heads of the royal family, the Labonairs, decided that both of their children were in line and able to become alphas. However, Jackson’s grandfather Richard Xavier Dumas hated that the Labonairs were intent on making peace with the vampires, so he killed Andréa now known as Hayley’s parents, resulting in Andréa being adopted by the Marshall family and leaving her hometown while the rest of the pack believed her dead. Not long after, the vampires attacked the werewolves and many were killed. The vampire convinced a witch to put a curse on the pack, which trapped the surviving Crescents who had triggered their werewolf genes in their wolf forms. Their only respite being the night of the full moon, when they were briefly able to transform back into humans for a few short hours.

While growing up, Jackson was like most kids with the werewolf gene - very angry, and when he ultimately killed a human and triggered his werewolf gene, he only became angrier because it also triggered his Crescent Curse, which forced him into his wolf form full-time. Jackson eventually calmed down when the pack’s former alpha was killed, forcing him to step up and take on the responsibility of becoming the new alpha to protect his people.

In recent months the pack was able to break free of the curse they’d been under by the help of the witches who seemingly are intent on watching Marcel fall from power. Jackson knew the rules even regardless of being free the wolves remained restricted to the Bayou unless Marcel said otherwise and that alone was enough to start making the pack less than pleased. So all he could do was attempt to ease their fears and hope that something or someone comes along to solve the mess.

Present:

They remain free of the curse but at what cost? They’re still imprisoned and while Aiden is happy to stand by all that Jackson believes is right, Oli seems to be adamant in doing the opposite and as the alpha, Jack finds himself concerned with what this could lead to.

He’s heard the Original family are around, that there’s a pregnant wolf they’re involved with and he’s eager to find out more…especially if they’re going to be any help in freeing the wolves from their confinement.

Connections:

Aiden Lewis: One of Jackson’s best friends, being that the pack grew up tight knit is it any surprise that he’s one of the people Jack trusts most and right now that feels far more important than anything. He knows Aiden has every reason to feel the same way Oli does and he’s glad he doesn’t.

Sophie Deveraux: The witch that freed the Crescent pack from the curse, he doesn’t trust her motives and knows there’s something more to it but for now he’s happy to stay far away from witch/vampire business. If Marcel falls great…if not then nothing has changed in the last few years anyway. He just wants to keep the pack safe.

Oliver Richards: Four years older and also his other best friend though lately things have been strained. Jack knows Oli believes that this is wrong and in that he’s right but Jack is worried that Oli isn’t going to think about the packs safety and do whatever it takes to see Marcel gone.

→ OVERVIEW:

The princess of the Patil family, Giva Patil is the perfect daughter, the perfect student and hopes to become the perfect wife and one day become The Minister of Magic she believes the wizarding world deserves. The eldest daughter of famous Curse-Breaker SANDHIR PATIL and Professor at Harrow Boys School ADITYA PATIL, Giva was raised in a privileged environment and was taught by her parents that with a dream and hard work she could achieve anything she put her mind to. Though Giva was like her mother in more ways that one, she had inherited the gentle soul of her father and was an affectionate and loving child who enjoyed the intense love and attention of her father who had taken time off work in the early days to raise both her and her younger brothers. Surrounded by the love and warmth of her family, Giva longed to emulate her parents' marriage one day herself and be surrounded by the next generation of her family. A natural mother-hen to her little brothers, Giva tried her best to help her mother and father control ISHAAN and his fondness for pranks and games, which she found only worsened when her youngest brother KRISHNA came along. Though she often found her younger siblings tiresome, she loved them both intensely despite the occasional argument and did her best to ensure she was a good role model and sister for them both. 

Unable to attend Harrow Boys School, Giva attended Westminster School in London and became a standout student and favourite amongst her teachers, despite all of the strange things that seemed to go on whenever she was around. It became apparent quite early on in Giva’s life she was a witch. Though she wasn’t one to take tantrums or lose herself in her anger, the odd comment here and there from girls at school would result in their school books disappearing as if by magic, or ink stains smudged into their uniforms that just didn’t seem to come off however hard they scrubbed. Even before Giva began to realise she had inherited her mother’s magic however, she had decided what she wanted to be when she grew up. In the beginning saying she wanted to be The Minister for Magic was a childlike dream most children say flippantly, but as she got older the dream became less childish and more of a burning passion she couldn’t let go of. Sitting at the breakfast table before school she would listen to her mother speaking out about events unfolding at The Ministry. There were injustices she could see, particularly surrounding members of the Muggle-Born magical community. Giva would always embrace her Muggle side with pride, enjoying the culture of the world her father belonged to and in which they were partly raised, particularly of Muggle India where her grandparents were both born on her father’s side. It was her aspiration to make the wizarding world more accepting of Muggles and help both cultures to learn from one another.

She marched off to Hogwarts with her cat under her arm and a dream in her heart to help change the world. Throwing herself into her new school life, she was quickly sorted into Ravenclaw and began establishing herself as one of the brighter students in her year group. A particular favourite of PROFESSOR BINNS, she was one of the few students to not fall asleep during History of Magic and excelled in her knowledge of the wizarding world particularly the more ancient side of it’s history. Giva was a naturally gifted witch, though she was rarely found outside of the library or the Ravenclaw tower studying for various tests and extra credit assignments she’d gifted to herself in order to stand out amongst her classmates. Though she had a passion for learning, Giva was incredibly competitive at school and enjoyed the joy of besting those who believed they were entitled to better grades just because of their bloodline who didn’t possess the intelligence to back it up. A popular student, Giva chose to surround herself with people of influence who had similar ethics, becoming close with fellow Ravenclaw KINGSLEY SHACKLEBOLT and Muggle-Born Slytherin student ADAIRA LINWOOD who was a few years her senior. Becoming friends with Adaria truly cemented Giva’s aspiration to change prejudice in the wizarding world. An incredibly talented witch, Adaria found herself at the mercy of many members of her own house who despised her sorting due to her blood status. 

The two girls became pretty much inseparable during their time together at Hogwarts, Adaira always managing to bring out the fun side of Giva which was always lurking below her perfect exterior. It was mostly due to Giva’s popularity and fondness for flaunting her intelligence and rubbing in the noses of the wizarding elite that found her on the bad side of classmate DOLORES UMBRIDGE. The kind of witch who refuses to be beaten down and bullied, Giva began to take any opportunity to climb aboard her soapbox and call out Dolores for her behaviour which was especially shocking to her given she was also a Half-Blood. It was the tenacity and passion Giva showed that encouraged slightly younger student and fellow Ravenclaw CHARITY BURBAGE to approach her in the infancy of her group ‘Sorcerers for Equality’ which focused on equal rights for members of the magical community. A creative and fairly business minded, Giva was appointed as the treasurer for Charity’s group and began trying to engineer ways to get their message heard and spread beyond the walls of Hogwarts. Along with the help of Adaira and POPPY POMFREY who she became close to through the group, she organised coundless fundraisers and parties as well as creatine, pins for students to wear to show their support- much to the headache of PROFESSOR FLITWICK who tried his best to police the group while encouraging its members to speak their mind. 

Graduating a prefect and Head Girl much to the irritation of Dolores, Giva left school and began training to become a barrister for The Ministry of Magic. Though she’d felt alive at Hogwarts fighting injustice and passing her classes nothing challenged how she felt in a courtroom convicting dark wizards and coming home each day knowing the world had been made in some way better because of her hard work. The earlier years of her work at The Ministry were dominated by her job, Giva sacrificing much of her personal life to become the best lawyer possible. Whatever free time she had was spent helping Charity organise events for Sorcerer’s for Peace which she still felt strongly about, though she could take less of an active role in the organization. Everything shifted however when she met NATAN DIGGORY. A slightly younger wizard who worked for the legal department of Magical Sports and Games, Giva was asked to work with him on a case involving a referee filing a lawsuit against The Ministry for their mishandling of a group of dragons which were allowed to storm the pitch during the Quidditch World Cup in Romania which was where their romance blossomed. Long evenings working on trying to find a loophole to get The Ministry off turned into dinner dates and lunches until the two fell in love. Natan was unlike any man she’d ever met before, although his family name brought consequences as they were highly respected within the wizarding world which both had its advantages and disadvantages. 

When a job came up in the Minister’s office as the Quill Control and Rune Translator for the Minister, Giva quickly jumped at the chance to be closer to her goal of becoming The Minister and was persuaded to leave her career as a lawyer behind despite how much she loved it. Everything seemed to be going perfectly for Giva, she had an amazing group of friends, a good job and was engaged to the man of her dreams. Then everything changed. A night drinking too many cocktails with her best friends resulted in a drunken fight with Natan, with her ring thrown at his head and Giva in tears at her brother’s flat waiting for him to come home to let her sleep in his guest room. Hearing the door click open, Giva rushed to greet Ishaan but found herself underneath a beast in the darkness, it’s jaws snapping at her wildly until it made connection with her flesh. Her brother managed to pull the animal off her but by then it was too late. The animal was a werewolf. Giva had escaped with her life. But she had been bitten. Immediately going into meltdown mode, Giva feels as though her life has instantly collapsed around her, with her bid to become Minister now officially over due to the inequalities and prejudice surrounding werewolves eclipsing even that of Muggle-Borns. Frightened and awaiting the first full moon, Giva has moved in with her younger brother, an Auror for The Ministry, with the hopes of figuring out a way to cure her of her affliction and find the person responsible to hold to account, all without anyone ever knowing she was bitten.

Past:

Oliver was born a member of the pack, though his mother was no more than human and gave birth to two younger sisters following after him. For Six years Oli was always a lonely kid and then the Kenners gave birth to a son who Oli used to play with when he was nine. By the time the two were old enough they were inseparable irregardless of the age difference...mostly because Jack always seemed far older than he was and Oli kinda liked having a friend that was more like a brother. Around this time he’d also become close to Aiden, who was a little younger than Jack, but a calm presence in between the two’s differing personalities…even more so when they grew older and became angrier due to the werewolf gene.

He was sixteen when he triggered it, the werewolf gene now stuck as a wolf until the full moon hit just like the rest of his pack. It changed him a little, made him less forgiving than he had been in the past. In some ways it felt like a good thing since being stuck in wolf form 24/7 was not something he or any of the pack should’ve needed to go through. And when the pack’s former Alpha was killed, Oli happily watched as his best friend Jack took on the role knowing that Jackson could handle it and it would most certainly be the three of them against the world just like when they were young.

When the curse was lifted by Sophie Deveraux, the last thing Oli wanted was to still be stuck in the Bayou furious at the witches but willing to listen. He knows that Marcel needs to fall or at least in his eyes he deserves to and impulsively he barely took a moment to consider what helping the witches could mean for the likes of the pack.

They remain free of the curse but at what cost? They’re still imprisoned and Oli is taking things into his own hands he knows the witches are the ones who need Davina and if it means Marcel loses the one thing keeping him on his high horse..then he’s happy to do whatever it takes to help get her.

Connections:

Aiden Lewis: They were best friends and while there’s been some tension between Jackson and Oli lately Aiden seems like the only one that is willing to hear him out even if he doesn’t agree with what he wants to do.

Sophie Deveraux: The witch that freed the Crescent pack and the person he’s agreed to aid, he trusts the witches about as much as he does the vampires but they share a common enemy and the French Quarter coven are the only way Oli can help ensure the pack are able to leave the Bayou without fear of being killed.

Jackson Kenner: The two were like brothers when they were young, now all that seems to be apparent is the differences they have when it comes to what they’re willing to do. Oli knows Jack is trying to keep the pack safe but doing so means they remain imprisoned and that just feels like they may as well be cursed again.

Matthew Gray’s family was connected to a very dark past. In fact, that was the reason Matthew’s name was changed when he was born; the family name was Greyback. His uncle was the infamous Fenrir Greyback. Though his parents adored being werewolves- both had been lycanthropes for quite some time before they’d even met- neither subscribed to the same ideologies as Fenrir. They didn’t care to make werewolves a new superior race. Instead, they only longed for equality. To live in a world where being proud of themselves didn’t mean being ostracized by greater society. 

Matthew was born just as the Second Wizarding World was coming to its climax. Despite not agreeing whole-heartedly with Fenrir, his parents hoped that the end of the war would bring a new era for werewolves. One fueled by acceptance and appreciation. Because of this, they turned Matthew when he was still a toddler. The war didn’t play out as expected. Instead of being able to be free and open about their family, they went into hiding, and Matthew spent all of his youth with his pack. The group was closer than family, raising each other’s children together and roaming the woods during the full moons. Though isolated, Matthew had an extremely happy childhood. 

When he was old enough to understand the war, his parents talked him through the entire ordeal, along with his uncle’s past. Matthew was ever the rebellious child, and quite vehemently agreed with his uncle. He, too, wanted a world where his pride for his pack would be accepted, but that was not yet to be. At age 10, they changed his last name to Gray, to make his transition to wizarding school easier. Most of the children in his pack went to Durmstrang, while his parents chose Hogwarts for him instead. He was sorted quite quickly into Hufflepuff, and though Matthew was an out-going guy, he kept to himself a lot, instead living through his letters to his pack and praying for the times he could be reunited with them. He was one of the first ‘out’ werewolves, which led to a lot of disdain and fear from other students. This was something Matthew was determined to change.

His natural curiosity helped land him a position as a research intern upon graduation. Headmistress Sinistra also thought it would be a good idea to have a werewolf on staff, to help with the transition into welcoming Beings to the school. Matthew was given the valuable time and resources to look into all of lyncanthrope history and culture, and he spent the first several years travelling and collecting date to be condensed into several books on the subject. His position seemed like a dream come true, if not for his loneliness.

After months of deliberation, Matthew made up his mind .He was going to find students to create his own pack. It was tricky, of course. First, they had to be wixen; it was uncertain whether or not other Beings could be successfully turned, and a werewolf’s bite was known to be lethal to muggles. Second, he had to find opportunities away from school to be able to turn them. Anything on the grounds would immediately lead back to him. It was difficult indeed. 

He started very slowly, with long intervals in between. Children being turned was either hushed up to keep family’s privacy, or made it onto the cover of every wizarding magazine available. There was no in between. At school, Matthew was always the sympathetic one, the person they kids could talk to. He could relate. Eventually, he was able to impart the importance of a pack to each of them, and soon his new pack was slowly growing in size. In fact, his success has begun to make him feel a bit cocky. He obviously spent most of his time with his ‘pack’, and encouraged them to spend their time together when he was busy. They were more than a clique, more than an angsty group of teenagers. They all shared the same condition, and now werewolves were proudly roaming the halls of Hogwarts. The pack is Matthew’s family, and he couldn’t be happier.

Sasha Avery↱ Matt turned Sasha only a few years ago, but the young female quickly became the group’s Alpha, with Matt as her Beta. He thinks of her like a younger sister, and enjoys teaching her about her new culture.

Christian Wolff↱ Christian is the most recently turned of the pack, but he’s slowly warming up to the idea. If it weren’t for Christian’s brother coming to Hogwarts, Matt thinks Chris would be much further along into accepting his new identity.

Kyle Klaxton↱ Kyle is the goofball of the group, but also the more reckless. Matthew constantly has to remind him not to act up, not to pick fights, but he loves the younger kid.
