marcus papadopoulos maesello

also referred to as beast, monster, priest, byzantine terror.

born and left as an orphan in the byzantine empire's prominent constantinople and raised within a monastery in the early 12th century. maesello was raised as an extremely orthodox christian and functioned as a priest for most of his human life. he refers to himself as greek when he is asked about his origins.

he was in his mid twenties when he was changed into a vampire, although this took place centuries ago. in turn, he does not remember much of his human life. but he seems to exhibit a certain dislike for organised religion.

he remembers his changing vividly though, it is one of his clearest memories. within the monastery in the middle of the night he was visited by the most beautiful man maesello, then marcus, had ever seen. he had thought the man was an angel, showing himself to the priest. maesello was deeply convinced of this fact, following the requests of the 'angel' without second thought. he was a priest after all, he was there to serve the divine. however the angel made stranger and stranger requests, from sexual intercourse to bringing pure souls to be send to heaven - the latter he learned later, had been the blood supply the angel had used. one of the nights, the angel appeared again, beckoning maesello closer to him. of course, the priest obeyed. "you did so well, you deserve a reward" the words left the angel's mouth and the angel touched his cheek with his icey cold hand. before maesello could say anything, an awful pain radiated from his neck. it took him a few seconds to realise that the angel had bitten him. struggling was of no use, the thing biting him was far stronger than he was, and part of him felt fuzzy and safe, as if he had been trained to eventually endure this bite. as the creature pulled back, he placed the drained priest onto the bed, cutting open his own wrist. "drink" the command came and maesello could not resist.

his memories of what followed are blurry, but he remembers blood, loads of it. doing as he was requested by the creature, his angel, his god is the only thing that remains clear in his mind from this period. it was the foundation of his new, vampiric personality. this personality was only enforced by the man who presented himself as maesello's god for several centuries.

maesello has pale, yellowish skin, often void of any redness. he however does have several moles on the left side of his face as well as freckles on his nose. he has sharp features and usually keeps himself completely clean shaved. he also prefers keeping his hair rather short. his blue eyes are framed by strong brows. furthermore, the top of his body is covered entirely in tattoos. whilst these have significance to him, he does not like going into detail about what they mean, not even to those closest to him.

strengths | " i have good parts too, you know? "

empathetic; rather than really caring for other people's emotions, he is extremely aware of them. he has chosen to ignore this side of himself when interacting with most people. he is however, awfully scared of hurting the few he cares about.

creative; as far as maesello has time to perform his jobs creatively, he tends to really think outside of normative frameworks. although thinking outside of normative frameworks when assassinating others is perhaps not the kind of creativity most would consider as helpful.

passionate; akin to the creativity trait, maesello is extremely passionate when he does something he likes. this can range from his jobs all the way to loving someone.

weaknesses | " i shouldn't admit this, yet here we are, aren't we? "

unrealistic; from his intense passion comes the setting of unrealistic standards and goals. he tends to beat himself up about not meeting his own unrealistic standards, although he usually takes out his physical anger that comes with this on someone else.

emotionally vulnerable; his empathy is not always something he can turn off, especially not when he is faced with emotionally loaded situations. he is easily swayed into doing things when he is under stress.

too eager to please; he would do anything for those he sees worthy. which is both a gift and a curse. he is willing to go to insane lengths for those he considers as his equals, but he will also do anything to make sure his equals keep on liking him. he be obsessive and forceful when it comes to pleasing others.

maesello is most often described as a sadist and a beast in a human veil, which is also how he regards himself most of the time. he is often sent out to do dirty jobs for those who are willing to pay him. he is not necessarily selective with whom he works, nor is he selective whose blood he takes. he had never been taught how to actually control his bloodlust, nor how he could stop from killing those he drinks from. in turn, he has a high kill count and feels very little remorse about the many he has killed.

he is manipulative and tends to do things for his own gain above all. although he presents himself as flirty most of the time, he is extremely calculating and thinks through each and every interaction he has. he likes playing and teasing, although he can be set off and lose his cool. his flirtiness does not match with his personality once he does get obsessed with someone, he will do absolutely anything to keep this person by his side. and if he cannot have them, no one can.

even though he may not show it explicitly, he is an intensely submissive person. he loves being a brat and pushing the buttons of those dominating him. but he also craves to be beaten into submission and reduced to whimpers. he is into name calling, degradation, blood play, knife play, choking, dom/sub dynamics or powerplay.

he hides his vampiric traits quite well, although he does never retract his fangs. they are always out, making his smiles sharp toothed. although the fact that maesello would be smiling should already be alarming, he is not someone who usually shows much of his expression through his face. if he allows his vampiric features to come through, the whites of his eyes shift to a greyish black and the blue of his eyes dims to match. underneath his eyes, his veins turn dark and well visible.

he has heightened senses and is extremely agile. he heals quickly and thus is rather hard to actually kill. although he does not possess a lot of other powers, he is extremely intelligent, which allows him to often outsmart his opponents. he does however have heightened compulsion and usually has no trouble getting what he wants. as a made rather than born vampire, he is unable to develop further powers. although he is extremely well respected and feared, even if he has no further powers. his efficiency and intellect allow him to be high ranked even if he is not a pure blood vampire.
