@opalsmedia​ — “ THE KITE RUNNER . “ alejandra says to the person touching the hardcovered , worn book she brought . “ even got mr  . khaled hosseini to inscribe on the front . right there . “ it’s something she cherishes . not just the book , but what it stands for . what it represents. also , it’s pretty god damn gorgeous with the leather binding , and slightly yellow pages . it looks like something LOVED . and it is  - by her . “ ever read a book and  wish you could read it again for the first time ? experience it again ? or read something that . . just makes you feel like bawling your eyes out ? “ she’s almost murmuring it to herself , a smile gracing her lips briefly in memory of all the times she read it . she pauses , realising what she’s said aloud .  alejandra doesn’t cry . pff . of course not . she surgically got her tear ducts removed a few years ago , duh . or so the rumours go . alejandra reaches over , and gently pries the books from the other’s hands . “ i don’t really let people touch it normally . “ slightly annoying , but people are nosy , and they’re all bundled into one  - admittedly huge - mansion together . alejandra dusts off the cover , as if invisible fingerprints and dirt could have been left behind on it from somebody else touching it . “ what did YOU bring then ? “

* !!!  –––  instead of using the trickster persona for a chaotic purpose, dante instead fades into the background ( as well as one can while looking like a widow who just murdered her husband and is currently fake crying at his funeral ), observing this little dysfunctional family they have become –– not without feeling proud of them, just a little bit. there is a random movie playing, and the dubious quality makes it all the more entertaining. dante hears laughter, and that is enough : they deserve this, at least. peace, no matter how short-lived. there is someone by his side, cursing at a damned piece of lego that stuck on their foot. –––– don’t talk to the poor things like this. –––– he chides, laying atop of the pool float, as unbothered as one can be. –––– come, lay down with me. let’s think happy thoughts while we stare at the queen’s beautiful corgis.
