we are consumed with disregard for life, as though it fills the nothingness in the spaces between the atmospheric vapours. when our royals are taking a life to save a life, I am perplexed that nobody asks why 'our' lives are so much more valuable - worthy than 'their' lives, why  the blind, impassive murders of one colleague by another are applauded, but we grieve the murders of murderers. when was the fire of the anarchist drowned, and the warmongers of the liberals unearthed, the humanitarian trampled under the weight of our negativity? we shed tears for these men in caskets but cheer for the children tortured and dismembered and, too unidentifiable for their own caskets, left to rot by them.
we take advantage of bravery and use it against humanity.
