13. A snake is quicker than an iPhone.
More of a diary entry than a photo.
The area near my office has a lot of snakes. Most of them are harmless pythons and tree snakes but we also get brown snakes, which are very dangerous. This afternoon I met this green tree snake just outside the the lab. When I saw him I crouched down to say hello and he immediately came straight over to me and started to climb onto my lap. I’m not kidding. This is a lap snake. Then suddenly he realised what I was and puffed up his throat to show he wasn’t scared but decided to slide quickly away nevertheless. I had been carrying a real camera just 30 seconds before but had dropped it off in my car as I was heading home. I had only doubled back to the lab because I had left something there. So I whipped out the iPhone and started the camera app but by that time my snakey friend was travelling rapidly away from me looking for somewhere to hide. This is all I got. This and a nice story.
