oogleboogleoogle replied to your link āž³ kilo + lola on Instagram: Ć¢ā¬ÅFor those wondering why I'm getting my...ā
I get so tired of the people who believe that adoption is the ONLY good option. You are not a bad person for getting a puppy from a breeder, it's so sad that you have to justify your decision to people. :\
Yeah itās frustrating but people can be so judgmental. I havenāt had to deal with it too much but I have friends that have had to deal with a lot of hate (for things that arenāt even anything..some people are just so negative I guess?)Ā
Like Iāve been involved in rescue; Iāve fostered for the spca for years. In our area, there arenāt dogs being put down daily for not having homes. We get dogs transferred in from other provinces (or other countries) because there arenāt a lot of homeless dogs here. From what I witnessed when I volunteered/fostered, puppies and dogs in general got a LOT of applications. There was a great pyr mix in once I thought my mom might be interested and found out there were over 50 applications for it.Ā
Like right now, our shelter has ONE dog up for adoption. The GSD BC rescue has ONE German Shepherd up for adoption (assuming their website is updated..) Even if I wanted to adopt a GSD there are maybe a couple of shepherds in shelters across BC.
When Lola is gone I might consider fostering another GSD in the future (assuming there is a homeless GSD in need of a foster home; I kinda stumbled into her situation) In our area we have a terrible overpopulation of cats, so I would like to get back into fostering kittens again too. Our shelter is legit spaying/neutering peoples cats for free for people right now. We are lucky to not have a dog overpopulation problem but we do have a cat one.

This is why I'll probably never end up using my Instagram :\ people suck.
@oogleboogleoogle yeah at this rate I doubt Iāll stick around or at least post very little. I knew this was a big issue on Instagram so Iām 0% surprised but still 100% disappointed and irritated. And if this person actually credited my photo, I can only imagine how many more uncredited reposts are out there. Sucks because I wanted to use Instagram to reach a different base of people for my online training, but thatās not really panning out yet anyway. I just canāt get into Instagram and this shit pisses me off more than itās worth it.

I wish I was closer, I would love to help watch him. :(
I wish there was a way he could just..lay in the grass in the shade, not too far from where I am but within sight, where none of the other dogs (or rowdy people) can bother him. But alas the set up there makes it hard esp since Iām in a little building thing and a lot of people bring their dogs to these things.
I mean I could just throw his basket muzzle on and everyone would stay far away Iām sure hahaĀ
oogleboogleoogle replied to your post āKilo seems back to normal today. Iām supposed to keep him quiet though...ā
I'm glad that he's doing better today. Hopefully you guys figure this whole thing out quickly and the results are good!! It was scary enough to read about what happened, I can't imagine living it.
It was so scary, one minute heās chasing his ball like normal then suddenly he doesnāt want to get up or even raise his head, I thought he was dying :(
Luckily it happened on our driveway so my sister could drive down and park next to us. Kilo didnāt want to miss out on a car ride so he managed to get up at least :(

@oogleboogleoogle thanks! I was just experimenting, though I sort of had the idea in mind when I took the photo.
I started with an image where the leaves and foreground trees had more light, and the background was darker. Then in Camera RAW I slid the shadows and blacks all the way down to darken the background further. Brought the highlights and whites up to brighten the leaves and foreground trees. Then used a couple adjustment brushes to selectively darken any remaining bright spots in the background.
Then cropped it because there was just too much in the horizontal view and the main subject is what was left anyway. I did take a vertical shot originally as well, but the light on the leaves wasnāt as nice in that one so I worked with the horizontal photo and cropped it.

⦠I canāt imagine never going camping ever. Then again I live like 10 minutes from a mountain so maybe weāre spoiled.
Yeah now that I actually like camping, every time I go Iām like āehhhh fuck going back to the city, do I really have to??? :cā If we lived in Wyoming Iād definitely do a lot more camping than I currently do. Even one of the rangers last weekend said the Snowy Range thus far remains undiscovered by Colorado people, and itās like good! Keep the crowds away! We hardly camp around here in Denver because itās so damn crowded. I found some neat dispersed camping sites near Nederland a few weeks ago and need to scope out some more, because thatās probably the only way weāll have a semi-peaceful camping experience near the Front Range.
I was surprised by how much snow is still up there! The Sugarloaf and other nearby areas are still closed with several feet of snow. :0 I was getting a bit nervous because totally not prepared for winter camping, lol. But the campsite I chose was lower elevation so no snow but definitely chilly at night.
