Would you consider getting this printed or at least format it for printing?
It is already in our plans to format the zine in such a way that you can get your own copy printed! A guide for that will be included. We will not be getting it printed as a group, as this is likely going to be a pretty bulky book since it is open call. It would be extremely expensive to make and ship physical versions of this project, and frankly, mods do not want to deal with that.
Will non-sharing oc x canon be allowed?
As the carrd says, no, this is a sharing space. Additionally, harassment over such things will not be tolerated and will lead to you being dropped from the project. If you consider yourself non-sharing, this project may not be for you.
Can Picrew art be used for the zine?
No! You may use Picrew to help create references, but all the art in the zine must be made by you or another contributor.
Can commissioned art/art drawn by other people be included?
No! All art in the zine must be created by you or another contributor. You may use commissioned artwork for references but it will not be in the zine NOTE: the only exception to this is if the person who drew it is ALSO in the zine AND you get permission from them.
I’m concerned about the writer-only contributors being overshadowed or looked down upon.
Mods will not tolerate any bad behavior such as looking down on other contributors. In addition, the zine is filled to the brim with opportunities for writers, such as article writing and lore. Plus, you will be assigned a spot artist to create at least two pieces for your OC (planned with you), and all contributors are welcome to offer more art to writers to help spotlight their OCs. The mods are working hard to make sure everyone gets their time to shine.
Will there be a limit as to how many sections creators are able to contribute to?
As it says on the carrd, nope! Contributors may create for as many sections as they want, as long as they meet our minimum contribution requirements. This will be a character profile and a minimum number of other sections, though mods are still deciding on those numbers.
When is this happening?
The schedule is on the carrd.
Is there a limit for participants?
Nope! We will be accepting all who sign up, as long as they meet our requirements. Mods have plans for if we get very few sign up or a LOT of sign ups!! As a note, because of this, our formatting mod gets as much time as she needs to format, and a release date will be decided upon based on her progress later. In addition to this, certain sections will have stricter formatting guidelines on the contributor end to ease the burden on our mods. We will share regular progress updates during formatting to keep contributors in the loop!
The zine should have news segments as well as “professional” photography and photoshoots!
Already in the plans! News falls under articles, and photoshoot type art falls into several established categories depending on what it is.
What about a local legends section?
This falls under the existing “original islands” category!
What about a behind the scenes/background section about the development of the OCs and how they've changed over the years?
Mods have gotten a few questions in this vein and are now considering a bonus zine with this kind of content! We love the idea a lot, so we will let everyone know if we decide we are able to do it.
Maybe if an OC has a signature dish they make, the recipe could be included?
Yes, the carrd lists recipes under “found papers.” Some may fit under articles, depending on how they are presented.
Maybe interactions with Canon characters or between different artists' OCs!
Absolutely! These kinds of things will be scattered throughout various sections depending on what they are.
What about voice claims, pinterest boards, relationship charts, etc?
Anything like this would probably fall into bonus zine territory, however, we will not be including pinterest boards in any capacity since we cannot moderate the content in them, as well as due to pinterest’s issues with creditless reuploads of art and photography. Additionally, Pinterest has added AI training, and we can’t guarantee that everyone contributing or reading the zine has the AI permissions turned off.
What about original plants, animals, and such created for an OCs story?
Definitely!!! We will find places to include these. Some will be articles or found papers, but contributors can brainstorm with mods how we would like to include specific things of this ilk.
What can my credit name be in the zine? Can I use a tumblr sideblog?
Your credit name can be whatever you want as long as it’s not, like, slurs or something.
Can two people collab on a piece of art? Like, one of them draws it and the other colors? (or any other variation)
No, we’re going to not allow this kind of collaboration. Any artwork must be only worked on by just the one contributor. This is already a large project to coordinate and adding that kind of collaboration adds another layer of complexity on the planning and formatting ends of things.
With the framing device of a reporter, will all OCs be expected to be from a specific time period within One Piece canon?
We’re looking to keep things approximately within the current canon time period and earlier. There is a little leeway on current canon that will be discussed on an individual basis, but we are not looking to include any post canon content for this volume. Characters from pre canon can go back as far as you want though! We will also talk on an individual basis on how to approach past characters to make them fit in properly!
