Here she was againā¦
Here they were again.
Whitney knew exactly why he was making that face- she knew just what he was thinking.. it wasnāt like this was the first time her boyfriend blew a fuse and kicked her out of his house for doing, well, seemingly nothing wrong. One little āwrongā look and he would lose it. Just tell her to get out and then the next day bring flowers to her door, or even the next night call and say he didnāt mean itā¦. But he never apologized. Not once.
And damn it, for some reason- Whitney fell for it every single time. Even though she truly didnāt want to keep this horrible cycle going; she knew it was wrong to call Rachel almost every time, but he was the only one that she trusted, the one she felt genuinely comfortable with after that would happen. (And in general, always) and now in his truck, she clutched her arms around herself to keep warm, feeling this growing distance; this tension that she loathed. It wasnāt like them; Whitney adored being around and with Rachel, but when she started dating Joshua, that seemed to change⦠and not within her control.
Considering this, the brunetteās instinct was to be on the defense, which she really didnāt have any right to be. āWell thatās a shitty thing to say, isnāt it?ā
She bit back, fighting tears immediately- because she knew he was right. A quiet sniffle made its way into the cold night air between them, just adding to this buildup of frustration. Whitneyās voice turned from a sour bite to someone small; someone lost in some sort of shameful defeat. Her wilted brown eyes couldnāt even peer over to look at him- just staring aimlessly out his passenger window.
āIt was great at firstā¦. It really wasā¦ā
