OK…I did like Once, but I am also a fan of Glen Hansard/The Frames/The Swell Season, but less so of Adam Levine/pop stuff. I’ll probably wait until it’s out on Netflix anyway, since I so rarely spring for an actual movie ticket.
Adam Levine didn't write any of the songs, he just performs a little bit. I think Glen Hansard and a few others wrote the music. I'm a fan of his too. I really liked the movie but I don't see it staying in theaters long since it's not a huge blockbuster so waiting for Netflix is a good idea. :)

I really liked it. It's from the same guy that wrote the movie Once (which was also turned into a hit Broadway show) so you should watch that first. If you like it then you'll probably like Begin Again too. They're very similar. Basically if you like acoustic/slow popish type music and NYC then you should like this. I really like the cast too. Even though Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green felt completely out of place to me. I don't think it was necessary to have actual popular musicians in the movie. Some independent artists would have worked just as well.
Funny that you've seen so many adds. I didn't see any. I just happened to catch Keira Knightly on a talk show and that's how I heard about it.
