They say that no matter how long you've served in war, you will always be left with lasting scars. And they're right. I've seen soldiers come and go, bodies caked in death, dragging their fallen brethren across the muck by their ankles, foisting their weapons into the air to surrender, or laying in pools of mixed bloods. Captured by enemies and sentenced to death upon the same battlefields that they fought their who were once were friends, allies, but were now bitter foes with the faint taste of blood on their lips. Lives are lost to wars. And for what? Families, friends. Mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters. Even those who already dead aren't allowed to rest during times of turmoil, during times like these. Everyone suffers, everyone cries. Everyone, eventually, all of them will die. If you survive war, you may think you're safe, free even, but if you were further from the truth of it all, you may as well have been dreaming too hard to wake up. Your come back the same, yet different. You come back shaken, you come back breathless. You come back wrong. Suddenly, life isn't what it used to be.
