#ons chapter 146

Hello everyone, a new chapter dropped and I gotta say it was rather interesting except for certain character's offscreen.

The chapter starts with the Progenitors detecting Ky Luc's presence as gone, furthermore, the remaining progenitors have noticed they're under attack leading for Lest Karr to go to the battlefield.

Given Urd and Rigr's differences, Urd warns Lest to be careful but Rigr of course suggests that Urd doesn't have faith in Lest, leading of course to Lest boost with confidence that he will succeed.

Within this part, the dots have begun to connect, what do I mean? We got information regarding the spells in the most subtle ways possible, but at least we know two of the three.

Following up with the panels, the encounter with Lest and Ferid Bathory begins.

Then we jump to Yuu and Mikaela trying to decipher the First's spells, along this, Mikaela is the one monitoring the memories of the First whereas Yuu is pretty much eating. (Yes...literally...*sigh*)

One of the things I find fascinating is that there's limit to what Yuu can read in terms of the ancient language along what Mika can. Let's remember that when Yuu and Mika did a memory regression, Mika was unable to read yet Yuu was able to...but among this, there's another character able to read all the information Shikama had within his memories, who do I mean? Correct, Shinoa Hiragi.

Then we return with Rigr Stafford checking the spells of the first along his goal to fully decipher them nevertheless we still see the differences of ideals between Rigr and Urd, like the moon and the sun.

Given that Rigr saw the memories of the First, he's obviously inclined to literally grant his Father's wish just like Yuu is aiming to do so since Rigr has much more knowledge in the field of magic, sorcery and spells.

Still, focusing back in the panels, Rigr on the other hand is not interested on what Urd has to say, ensuring Yuu gets the calories needed to keep exploring the memories of the First; meanwhile Urd is analyzing further that the enemy is actually gaining the upperhand thus leading to something I found fascinating.

Rigr was in a mode of: you go do this and that but Urd literally took a firm posture and chose to stop following Rigr.

Now, what was what I mentioned at the very beginning of this post? True, we got information regarding of the spells, one of them is how to Resurrect Michaela.

Still, how would that be possible? Correct. Gathering the 7 Sinful Keys and sacrificing all the progenitors standing. Ironically, Rigr has been cunning enough to make the Progenitors head to such path. What Rigr did with Lest by dismissing Urd's warning is merely psychology and manipulation.

But given this, Urd finally took a decision, he managed to grab the Sinful Key and of course, before Urd could actually use it, Rigr used an illusion on which Yuu died but of course, Urd is fully aware now how Rigr attacks, meaning the illusion was futile.

Ultimately we have a flashback of Rigr and Urd back when they were children and slaves, Rigr was always optimistic whereas Urd was the opposite.

Within this, there's a lot of parallelism between many characters, what do I mean?

Thanks to a dear friend, the whole lore of OnS is always related to paralellism and change.

Urd and Rigr reflect the ideal vs the truth, Ashera and Krul reflect the same yet Ashera realized too late that the treasure of life he had, discarted it easily by following the devil and at the end, being unable to save his sister. The last pair being of course Mika and Yuu. Mika when he was a vampire, was always opposing Yuu but given that Yuu is one of the main characters; it was bound to happen the current result, yet with the case of Urd and Rigr, such pattern actually shattered. The greed carried down by Rigr is simply too much, there's no guarantee with anything even if hope is what lingers within him.

The sacrifices they will make are extremely high hence why Urd stated that their journey has gone for too long, nevertheless, they detected they were being watched by Shinya Hiragi no less.

Guren is fully aware of Yuu's location and the final panel being Ferid Bathory devouring Lest Karr.

I must say this was disappointing.

Lest Karr was a full representation of a pointless character within the plot given that we didn't have a backstory for him or his motives. Unless the author actually gives him a flashback even if he is trapped within Ferid's body.

Well, despite the recent chapter not being exactly great, there's a rather sweet detail found despite everything.

Let's remember that back when he was introduced, Lest Karr pointed something out

Urd allowed humans to have a degree of freedom and as we can see, children were the ones who displayed happiness since they were free to run and play.

The reason why Urd Geales was always different in relation to other Vampire Progenitors when it came to humans was due to his past.

He was a slave as a child, even when he met Sika Madu, it was very likely Rigr and Urd remained as slaves until a buyer got their freedom.

Hmm. Well, I have two answers for that.

1. Plot

Given that the final battle was approaching, and by logic, Guren couldn't remain standing cause the whole point was between the squad, they needed to take them down (Guren, Ferid, Mahiru, Shinya, the rest of Guren's squad, the progenitors). As for how I can tell, it all goes back to the very 1st chapter of the story

Including a bonus chapter:

Sooo, under that logic, it was clear this was bound to happen.

2. All or Nothing. Matter of strength

Ferid didn't stand a chance against the higher progenitors. He could caught off guard Rigr Stafford only once, however, in order to kill someone like him, he truthfully needed a plan. The best plan was to devour vampires in secret.

That was the only way to face high rank progenitors.

Ultimately it was a battle of all or nothing:

Hello everyone, the latest chapter is around the corner, and wew it's been a long journey hasn't it?

Given the busy schedule, I wasn't able to do much however, few days ago, I've discussed a lot with my best friend. Such as:

Is OnS a well written story?

What kind of literature does it carry?

Are the actions actually justified?

Does the story revolve on casual reading or it goes way beyond what we usually expect?

Such questions were rather deep, I have some knowledge regarding literature, however, if I were to compare my knowledge with my best's friends, she is really a pro in that area, that's her current goal after all.

But I'll leave those questions for next time, after all, they do have answers, perhaps not what we may like but they do nonetheless.

Though, what's going on with the tittle of the current analysis, let's explore or dwell onto it, shall we?

P.S: Theories and analysis are held in a neutral view, ships are excluded.

One of the things that at first never made me think so much was certain panel, but considering all the events that have taken place in the story up till now, it has started making sence.

Indeed, the very last page of chapter 1. But, what does this page has as special?

Let's start by taking the key phrase:

"And so began...the battle at the end of the world...between vampires...angels...demons...and us."

At first, this dialogue actually reflected what was bound to come in the story. Back in the beginning the story only revolved in a war between humans and vampires, however, let's take a closer look and fragment this information for the current events of the chapters.

Right now, in the latest chapters, there are three factions so far, which are they?

Correct

Yuu's team (Yuu, Rigr and Mika)

Vampire Progenitors (Urd Geales standing)

Victory no matter the cost (Ferid, Guren, Mahiru, Guren squad, Kureto and Aoi)

Shinoa Squad (Shinoa, Kimizuki, Yoichi and Mitsuba)

One - The battle At the End of the World

Right now, the battle at the end of the world has begun. The first connection between chapter 1 and chapter 140 onwards is set in stone.

Two - The battle with Vampires

The battle with vampires is almost at its end, Ky Luc, Lest Karr, Krul Tepes and Crowley Eusford are technically gone, Ky Luc being turned into a demon while the other progenitors were devoured by Ferid Bathory.

This of course leaves us with Urd Geales and Rigr Stafford at the very end, but even them being progenitors, they're pretty much at the end of the journey with Urd disagreeing with Rigr's methods.

Three - The battle with Angels

So far, the battle against angels hasn't begun, meaning that once certain requirements or conditions are met, they will too join the battle. We of course can't consider Yuu an angel given that he's not a natural born angel.

Four - The battle with demons

The battle against demons has been fulfilled, let's remember that said battle took place in early chapters, embarking on the journey from chapter 74 till chapter 108 along putting an end to it on chapter 139 once Shinoa devoured Shikama Doji, leaving the demons without leader and let's remember that once there's no leader to guide them, they're completely hopeless.

The only last possibility would be Ferid Bathory's turning along the nature that could come with. However the one leading the demons was of course Shikama Doji.

Five - And us

Rather tricky. Usually this could suggest or imply that it's a tale being told by Mika and Yuu; but here goes a little issue. What could it be? Correct. Mikaela is currently a demon, meaning he no longer belongs to that "us" but rather someone else. Who may that someone else mean?

The "and us" actually refers to the battle between two groups, however, it doesn't involve vampires, angels or demons but two groups standing.

From here two possibilities fall, however one is more prone to be the "us" instead of the first one.

The first "us" links directly to Guren vs Yuu. It is known that Guren has been rather meticulous preparing his plan, he is fully aware where Yuu is, though, there is just one issue in this first possibility. What could it be? Indeed, Guren is barely hanging. The damage he has caused to his body is too much, it goes between plot armor but also that his role for the story is going to end. It's the final battle as he said after all.

Usually when characters state those lines, it actually reflects on the story that their roles or actions will stop having influence, their whole mission was of course the last remaining progenitors standing.

But if we actually focus on the final battle, the real final battle starts with the second biggest possibility which is technically confirmed.

The "Batlle at the end of the world between us" actually refers to Shinoa's squad and Yuu.

It's a final crash of ideologies laid bare, a crash of who will use their torch to give a new future to humanity.

One who dreams of an utopic dream vs one who dreams of an achiavable dream.

After all, this has been hinted back in the catastrophe.

Surprising isn't it? The author had always planned this kind of ending for so many years.

Regarding your thoughts it's a possibility at the end of the day. We don't know 100% what Kagami will pull out in the remaining chapters.

I can only say next chapter will be the final battle for Rigr Stafford, but of course, it's not the last battle against the Squad and Yuu together.

I think, Shinoa's very aware of the tricks Yuu can pull so it'll be up to her to fill the title of Squad Leader. Her mission after all, is to protect them and lead them to victory.

However, there's one thing I discussed with my bestie over other another social platform. And you're welcome to join along whoever reads this because I think there are many interesting questions or puzzle pieces left.

Very independent of "who" wins, the question remains:

What'll happen to the active demons?"

We so far saw the closure of Guren's squad in chapter 147

That was all death flag needed.

Same concept applied to the vampires that were bound to become demons (even if one met an end with Shinoa, the other with Rigr & the remaining with Ferid) and this of course was in chapters 143, 146, 147, 150.

This too was Ferid's courtain call.

Ultimately, all of them become demons but then, what about the remaining active ones such as:

Kiseki-O & Gekkouin

Tenjiryuu

And Mikaela

True, Yuu has claimed that he'll save everyone, however, the 1st mentioned something and this is considering his spells are set on stone; they've been analyzed but not modified:

So far, that's almost done.

Soo the question remains. If Yuu were to bring back angels, progenitors and humans alike, how would you remove the curse the demons are set on; the 1st made certain that the demons would remain as that for eternity with no will; thus meaning they'll become hollow.

Sooo, hello everyone, yesterday I spent some time talking with a dear friend along complaining about Lest's sudden offscreen death, nevertheless, one of the topics that came up was the Ancient Language.

P.S: Theories and Analysis are held in a neutral view and ships are excluded

It is well known that by Ancient Language I mean mostly to the one the angels were able to read; considering that in the current time of the plot, only few characters are able to understand the message behind. Those characters are Yuu and Mikaela.

For that let's remember the very first time this was presented.

Back in Chapter 125, Yuu and Mikaela were exploring Yuu's memories of back when he was the angel Mikaela. Among this, they were prying on the stuff the First was reading which of course, Mikaela was unable to read given that it was impossible for him to read. But, one of them was able to do so, that character of course was Yuu.

Considering that Yuu has strong ties to the First given that unlike the rest of the progenitors and the endless generations of humans, he preserved deep within his heart the memories of what he used to be, he was able to understand the files the First was reading.

Mikaela of course was surprised with the new information he obtained along his surprise to see Yuu understand what the First read.

Now, back in chapter 146, a twist occurred, Mikaela was able to shift into the angel Mikaela, allowing him to read part of the First's spells yet with Yuu, he was unable to read the spell.

There are two probable answers to this:

1. The use of an avatar

On this very first scenario, it's very likely that given Mikaela is constantly consuming Yuu's desires, he has found other methods to gain access to the information. And considering Yuu has all his memories when he was the angel Mikaela, it's quite possible that Mika is borrowing that knowledge in order to understand the language he was unable to read back when they did the memory regression.

2. Merging

This second scenario is another possibility. Given that Shikama's goal back when he was alive needed the merging of Mikaela and Yuu at a gradual pace, it's very likely that due to the process of constantly exploring the First's memories, consuming desires, using their power, this is only making said process quicken.

Despite the merging attracting the trumpets, this process itself dwells a lot on the use of power.

But despite all this information, it is understandable why Yuu was able to read the information along Mikaela; they carry the seraph trait, meanwhile Mikaela carries both the seraph trait and the Michaela trait. Yet, there's just another character capable of reading this Ancient Language.

Who could it be?

Correct, Shinoa Hiiragi.

Once Shinoa engaged in a fight with Shikama/Sika Madu, Shinoa of course had a massive advantaje because he was in a weakened state along Shinoa finally gaining confidence to stand and fight since she too had power.

Once she devoured Shikama, it was clear she was going to adquire all his memories, powers and part of the spells he knew except the main 3 Yuu has.

But even if that's the case, even if she absorbed the majority of power the First had; one of the main question that I discussed with my friend is, how was she able to read the Ancient Language the First Progenitor only had access and knowledge to?

So far, it is well known that even if Shinoa's existance came due to the experiments along how different said experiments affected Mahiru's and Shinoa's mother, nevertheless, it was stated that she was human no less. So far, the only glimpse of her to quickly understand stuff related to the First was shown back in the Catastrophe at 16.

Once Shinoa reunited once again with Shikama, they had their talk along Shinoa trying to pry onto Shikama's memories and thoughts, but given that Shikama wouldn't allow such thing, it was impossible for Shinoa to even obtain any kind of information from him, but, just like he did, she quickly grasped the way he protected his heart.

Therefore, the question remains.

Thus, very independent of the author and how the events have been taking place, what do you think could lead this new question?

While it's true the manga always portrayed the characters not needing training to harness power, I do believe it's very different if they try to interpret and understand information considering back in chapter 59, the whole squad had a lot of trouble reading old files from the Hiiragi Family.
