It had been late into the night when Kijinmaru found himself sitting on the engawa, a clear view of the sakura tree that stood proudly in the distance. Though it had been difficult to get to where he was now, curse the Ćdachi that had run him through earlier in the week, the breeze proved to be more refreshing than he first expected. It stayed like that for some time, until he hears an all-too-familiar voice addressing him. âSorry, Yagen. Itâs just.. I canât stand staying in that room all day.â

Hands stuff themselves into deep pockets, and a myriad of small supplies collide with gloved fingertipsâthe resident medic is, thankfully, used to his flighty patients ( some more dramatic than others, but heâs not harsh when he doesnât have to be ). The last call to the front lines had returned with Kijinmaru heavily wounded ( and very much to the chagrin of the other swordâs partners ), and Yagen had taken to treating him as quickly as possible.
It doesnât quite surprise him to see an empty futon when he comes to check on Kijinâbut, he departs only with a small sigh before padding off quietly to look for him. It wasnât a pretty injury, but at least it wasnât fragile anymore. Thankfully.
âKijin, there you are.â Everyone ends up on the engawaâbut for good reason. Itâs gorgeous no matter what day, season, hour. The tantou understands though, and Kijinmaru is recovering well enough, so he doesnât feel the need to chastise him for disobeying.
âItâs fine, youâre doing well, and itâs good to move around once in awhile,â Yagen responds softly, taking a seat on the deck as well. âHow are you feeling, though? Anything too sensitive?â Prioritizing comfort as always. âThe only reason why I sought you out is to change your bandages for the night, but Iâm not in a rush.â
