Today’s the day. She’s gonna catch one of those giant koi. Maybe Threo isn’t the best swimmer, but if there’s one thing she definitely has over those dumb, giant fish, it’s per... persty... it’s persistence. Those dumb fish probably don’t even know the meaning of that word. But no matter how close she gets, they always swim away at the last moment, like they’re taunting her.
Rising to the surface, Threo sputters water and shakes her head to get her hair out of her eyes. “Dang! I was so close that time, too!” she groans, swimming to shore. “I touched the fin! If I could just get a tiny bit closer...”
Stepping onto solid ground, Threo drops to all fours and violently shakes her body, splashing water in all directions. “Oh, maybe if I was lighter, I could swim faster!” she says, reaching down to unbuckle her greaves.
“Heheh, those fishies better watch out! I’ll be having giant koi dinner in no time!”
The hair on her neck bristles, and Threo notices that someone is staring very intently at her. When she looks up and spots the yellow-haired boy standing a short distance away, she points right at his heart. “Don’t even think about asking me to share! I’m gonna eat the whole thing by myself! My tummy is super hungry!”
