On The Cross II (enhanced) August 2010 Isaiah 52:14 But many were amazed when they saw him. His face was so disfigured he seemed hardly human, and from his appearance, one would scarcely know he was a man. What I see when I think of Jesus on the cross. I see a man beaten to a pulp, not unlike a boxer. Face swollen and cut, a man truly suffering. My bible art has been described as intense and powerful. I have one statement that I like to repeat which describes my opinion about my art: I am not a decorator. I draw or paint art that tells a story or my opinion. I love to do biblical art; the problem is that it does not appeal to many people. . The thing is the biblical art is my interpretation of the scriptures and they are rough. One example is my version of the Scourge. It depicts Jesus during the scourge, somewhat reminiscent of Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ. When people walk up to it, they are either curious or overwhelmed by it (You should see the grimaces the old church ladies give it lol). My point is, I try to depict these stories by a more practical, honest, emotional view and sometimes folks prefer the generic Jesus on the cross painting devoid of the results of the actual punishment he endured for us. This is not what happened at all. #Jesus #onethecross #Isaiah5214 #bibleart #bibleartwork #Biblicalart #ThePassionofChrist #ArtofRobertoqgarza #SufferingOnTheCross #forus (at Lubbock, Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/BrmLLz9gm43/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1rdpcidmwx6pv
