i think what says the most about it is that i was reading it when i was first getting into like.........  delving deeper into comics.  i still do not consider myself too hot when it comes to anyone but tommy.  but even then i can tell you that it was bad.  for like.  everyone.  was there a character that was okay in gotham knights?  not really

there was the poison ivy weirdness where she loved bruce and also tommy and also then proceeded to get real dead.  man pain.  joker with his pigeons?  i also vaguely remember they were trying to do backstory stuff with him at one point? idek anymore i think i blocked it out.  a lot of the time tommy just goes after riddler, and i can sort of understand this, but like?  lmfao ed isn’t the person he’s mad at, he’s mad at bruce.  tommy can hold a grudge, don’t get me wrong, but he could have been going after bruce the entire time and instead he was focusing on someone who was a previous ally??????????????? i dont

continuing on that note:  tommy’s running around with a ridiculous design, and then he’s like Godly Amazing at Everything and manipulates prometheus, some clayface wannabe guy, and alfred.  because alfred is infected with a clayface virus?  or something?  tommy’s like “i will be the next clayface but not really i want to be Better” and so basically he’s ridiculous, but later he suddenly becomes incredibly inept regarding anything anatomy despite the fact he’s first and foremost a surgeon that went to harvard and is elite in his medical field (they kind of played him off as more of a chemist or something with how he was looking into ivy’s toxins and making antidotes and then messing with the Clayface Virus Thing), and suddenly tommy did not know that a pacemaker was put into his chest by the joker, also went to bruce to have it taken out despite the fact he’s utterly paranoid about bruce and bruce obviously would Not Play Nice after everything that happened with ivy and alfred and cassius and.  okay, so you have these things happen, and it ends up bruce didn’t even take out the pacemaker.  once again, however, tommy does not seem to notice this, and heads off to find the joker and wreck his shit.  which also is just like?  bruce would not?  knowingly allow tommy to leave arkham and confront joker and basically commit suicide / let joker murder him, i don’t?  why would bruce leave in the pacemaker?  other than he would not?  gotham knights writers be like “i know what will be super cool, making the man known for his morals as a key part of his character just fucking shatter them and throw all of that away even when he wouldn’t kill joker ever.  no this makes complete sense lmao fuck tommy he gone die.  also fuck bruce jus t fuckkin him  fuckk him f uck”

let’s not forget that literally every panel of tommy in gotham knights was just.  ridiculous.  he’s straight up ridiculous.  there isn’t a single panel i can look at that isn’t ridiculous.  whether it’s the dialogue or his actions or what, there’s just always something, and if i don’t laugh i cry

did you know there’s a whole comic devoted to some pornographer dude blackmailing bruce because he caught bruce on tape fighting tommy?  and he was like?  clearly this is batman fighting a rogue?  and then alfred kills him?  but also not really?  it’s the clayface wannabe guy that tommy can control?  also tommy controls alfred like he makes alfred cut batman’s grappling hook line at one point and?

they also included this really weird storyline where tommy like.  set up some weird event where the wannabe clayface looked like him, and they made alfred think hush wasn’t tommy, but alfred had amnesia so he couldn’t remember until several issues later so the entire time you’re reading like “but who is hush,” and in the end there was literally no point to him doing that?  like it was relevant for three panels and then they were like “oh lmao u thought tho right.  nvm tommy is hush we were joking we just did this so you would keep reading even tho it didn’t affect the plot at all”  LIKE IT HAD NO...  POINT...  TOMMY DID THAT FOR NO REASON...  IT DIDN’T EVEN GENERALLY HELP HIM LMFAO THEY DIDN’T EVEN EXPLAIN WHY HE THOUGHT IT WOULD HELP?  like why would it matter if bruce thought tommy elliot weren’t hush, and that tommy elliot were alive elsewhere?  don’t get me wrong, they could DO something with that, BUT THEY DIDN’T?  AND THEY DIDN’T EXPLAIN WHAT HE WAS GOING TO DO?  THERE WASN’T EVEN AN “oh drat i was gonna use that against u bruce and hurt you emotionally only to reveal i am in fact me!!!!!!  i was gonna hurt u so good >:(((  oh well!!!!”  like there was nothing i don’t???????
