D'oh! 'Jeopardy' Contestant Loses By $1
Jeopardy contestant Fritz, who was in the lead going into Final Jeopardy, wound up losing by just one dollar. What happened? It was an unfortunate outcome of Final Jeopardy strategy and simply the wrong response.
Fritz and Andrew had a big lead over Cindy in third place with $800, so it came down to their responses in the final round and their wagers. It appeared Fritz, with $16,600, wagered for the win thinking Andrew, with $13,400, would risk it all. But Andrew was counting on that, and their two wrong responses to the final answer played right into his strategy. Wagering $7000, Andrew wound up with $6400 and Fritz was a dollar short of a tie. Ouch!
