"You are strong... or perhaps resilient is a better word for you, my old mentor. No matter what the world has thrown at you, you have not only conquered and withstood, you have thrived. I commend you for that. Perhaps it is you from whom I try to take these traits from. Something still for you to teach me, isn't there?" Armand smiles faintly. "The only thing I find less than appealing about you, my mentor, is by some of the methods by which you have thrived. But I suppose you could see that one coming, couldn't you? It is something I despise within myself. The lengths we go to in order to survive. Yet something else we have in common, yes? We have both done reprehensible things in the name of survival."

Armand watches Amel for a moment, unsure if this is wise. Their relationship was still so tentative. He sighs. "Amel is intelligent. He is constantly looking to better himself, his race, and the world around him. That is also his least appealing trait. Sometimes I wish he were stupid. His constant seeking nature is bothersome at times, and I wish nothing more than for him to stop teaching the replimoids and to stop aiding them."
