A ship I think is underrated in this fandom is melonbread (Basil x The Maverick/Mikhael)

People think Mikhael is just a loser but he’s more than that! He’s a loser fail boy sure but he’s also deeply insecure and Basil is too, I think if Mikhael could get over his pretenses they could be good for each other in a way, Basil is supportive and patient and I think he could help Mikhael come out of his shell in ways that are healthier for him

With Basil I think he needs a sense of normalcy and positivity in his life, and while much of the confidence Mikhael puts forth is just a facade I think the dynamic could help Basil bolster his self assurance for real- it’s like cactiflower in a way but also very different

I don’t know, I just think they’re sweet and have many dumb little headcanons, I just think they have to potential to influence and support each other positively… they only have like three fanfics also and that is deeply tragic to me, campaigning to see more of my blorbos!!!

Melonbread is a great name. Does it come from Basil being a watermelon and The Maverick being from the baker family?

Loser characters are awesome! The Maverick just wants to be loved, and he goes to great lengths to be accepted. Someone as patient and accepting as Basil may be exactly who he needs to learn to love himself the way he is. I bet Mikhael makes Basil laugh and forget about the sadness of his life, and they'd be happy together
