Toxic codependent evil old people yaouri slop??
You CANNOT convince me this is baseless, because what do you mean the whole reason the great Illager villager split might’ve happened in the first place was because the Illagers wanted to help the heroes win the nether war??? Then their societies collaborate so much they start adopting behaviors and social dynamics off of one other?? And THEN they run off alone into the underground, build cities & training chambers (with bedrooms!!) together for the both of them and continue to practice their evil deeds far away from anyone else??? That’s crazy... Steve’s grandthey/them was GAY with the Illagers and you cannot tell me otherwise

Is there an equivalent of episode 229 in the manga?
Although I can’t say it with 100% certainty, I’m heavily inclined to say no. I’ve gotten up to the chapters from at least 2009 and haven’t seen anything like it yet, and the episode came out in 2008, so I think it’s safe to say it’s anime exclusive. Aside from the movies, the manga almost never adapts from the anime, it’s always been the other way around. The anime stopped with most of the manga adaptations after around season 2 as well.
Would’ve liked to see that ep in the manga though. It probably would’ve gone down differently, as both Saburo and Kururu’s characters differ greatly between canons, and the climax scene would’ve had to be different b/c it’s implied Kururu can make reality pens easily in the manga as of one of the later chapters with Shin Keroro.
