I’ve decided it should be “omegas need to be essentially quarantined when they first present because you want to keep them happy with as little stress as possible, but a happy omega who’s not used to the mating instinct will be very bite happy because in their instinctive brains “makes me happy=good mate” and they will chomp down on almost anybody and everything”

Which a one sided mating bite won’t take, so there’s not much of a chance of an unhappy forced pairing (unless someone trying to get bit by the omega shows up and encourages it) but still. who wants to get bit. especially by someone who’s running off of instinct and is really going to leave a mark cause they haven’t practiced doing it carefully?

It's something kittens do with their mums, but older cats often do that with their favourite humans or soft toys and blankets!

It's associated with nest-making and scenting. Famous omegaverse things!

Pups could do that with their parents! Omegas (and other nest-makers) could do that with their nests! And everyone could give friendly little massages to their friends!

(or make them a pizza, but like, as an Omegaverse Instinct™ thing)

When the omega has a base prepared, they can fill their nest with more nesting ingredients like blankets, pillows, clothing, and stuffed animals. that they wish to have during their heat cycle. The items are typically soft and comforting, often carrying some amount of sentimental value. Omegas scent their nest as they construct it and after it is done.

These nests are easy to construct, deconstruct, and maintain, making them one of the most convenient options for nesting. They are easily customizable and the cost to create a bed nest is mostly dependent on the omega.

Customizing and making bed nests personal is easy to do. Bed nests have a wide range. They can be neatly constructed with minimal accessories like stuffed animals or scented items from pack mates. They may be piled high with fluffy blankets and stuffed animals, appearing very messy. It is up to the omega owner of the nest to decide what is best for them. Policing an omega’s bed nest for not following a more specific style will only create negativity.

-Nests can variate in size, shape, prupose...from individual nests being exclusively for a single omega, to huge mountains of blankets and pillows made for entire packs to fit in (wheither they are friend packs, family packs, etc)

-In family packs, omegas tend to keep EVERY single plushie that has belonged to ANY member of the family and put them in the nests, so its not weird to see nests filled with old teddybears that have belonged to some great great grandparent 125 years ago. They make that as a tribute to those family members that have passed away, to tell them that they will never be forgotten and there will always be a place in the nests for them, even if they are not physcslly there anymore.

-In some areas its common to organise "nest trades" several times a year. In those events, many omegas reunite to give hand-made plushies, pillows, blankets, etc to those packs that struggle economically and cannot afford proper nests. They also trade items between friends, sell items made of alternative materials for people with allergies, discuss over which nest structures and ideas are viable or not, make expositions of nests made by them that people can try on,etc

-Nests are also a prominent topic In social media. There are like thousands of channels that focus entirely on nest designing: tutorials on how to make proper nests of different sizes, advice on which materials are better to use in every case, which color combinations look better, which type of decoration use depending on the aesthetic they want the nest to be, and even videos showing nests with original and unusual structures and colors. Nests are not only consdered a comfort place, but also a subgender of art and a way to express your creativity.
