it’s astounding how much time humanity spends trying to justify our own existence. the atoms making up our being have been around since the birth of time, yet somehow they made their way together to form our bodies, our rotting corpses manipulated only by a dying soul. We are the universe in the shape of a person; we will all eventually return to the universe. a wave still belongs to the ocean.
A voice danced from the moonlit balcony below him, unmuffled by the falling snow.
“I have never seen a night such as this! I have never seen a moon so full, snow so perfect. How could anyone sleep? Oh, the sparkle of the stars…”
His surroundings were narrated to him by the wistful voice, awakening in him an appreciation of the beauty winter brought. Thus, it was only natural that upon their meeting, an appreciation of her beauty was also awoken in him, and when she greeted him with the most graceful of curtsies, spoke her first words to him, he melted, just as the snow from that one night had.
A young countess had thawed the heart of Prince Yu Haibara, and soon the announcement of their engagement followed - their long, long engagement.
For Yu Haibara was called away for foreign affairs, and the weeks stretched into months, which stretched into years. During the fourth year of their engagement, and the prince’s absence, the young countess was sent into Moscow society by her family. A decision that changed everything.

honestly “i built our whole life together in my head, and now i’m not only losing you but the future we were supposed to have.” is such a banger line and that makes me insanely happy because im the one who wrote it
it’s funny; when i was taking down all the stuff in my room that reminded me of you, i forgot to take off my ring. my beautiful ring, from my beautiful girl, that reminded me you were alive and happy because you were mine. i didn’t notice until hours later, because it had simply become a part of me. you were a part of me. you knew me inside and out. it hurt to take it off, like our two souls were being ripped apart. i suppose, in a way, they were.
you were my matching sock, my dearest, my soulmate, my everything. you made me so, so happy. and you know what hurts the most? i genuinely, truly believed this was going to work out. i built our whole life together in my head, and now i’m not only losing you but the future we were supposed to have. we will never get to cuddle in your bed again. i will never get to show you movies i like. i will never get to lay a blanket over your sleeping figure and just stand there, watching your chest rise and fall, enamored by the simple beauty that is your peaceful face, thinking about how deeply in love with you i am. i will never, ever again get to run my fingers through your soft hair.
who will bandage your wrists for you? i was supposed to do that if you still cut when we were older. who will hold you while you cry? it isn’t fair how pretty you are when you cry. who will teach you the things your parents didn’t? will you think of me when you make grilled cheese? who is going to find your atrocious spelling so endearing the way i did? will someone else call you baby? will someone else fall asleep, tangled up in your arms? will someone else do these things with me? please, no. i only ever wanted you.
what happens when i forget, when i laugh at something funny and almost send it to you? what happens when i remember that i cant? it feels as if someone has reached into my chest and ripped out my heart, leaving behind a void that is slowly consuming every part of me. i wish you were here to fill these holes. i wonder if this sadness is going to consume me. part of me hopes it does. i don’t want a life without you in it. who am i supposed to send my poetry to?
you promised me one day you would play me your music, when you were ready. you said i could listen to all the love songs you’d written for me. i never did get to hear them.

tw: child abuse

Cam walked home slowly, enjoying the setting sun, its warmth on his shoulders, the sky painted pink and orange. Looking back now, it seems too lovely of an evening to be followed by what happened the morning after. But Cam didn’t know that then.
He was twelve years old, grinning from ear to ear at the beauty of the world and the tingling of his cheek where Dahlia had kissed him. Why should he have expected anything less of tomorrow? What a sweet, innocent child he was.

The first time Cam ever saw Dahlia, he was nine years old. He was wandering in the forest, looking for sweetberries for his mother to bake into a pie. Of course, he knew about the dryads, the tree nymphs that lived in the woods. Everyone did. They were graceful creatures, beautiful, though rarely seen. So, when Cam saw a young girl nimbly jump down from the branches of a small willow tree, he startled backward, dropping his bucket and sending berries spilling across the forest floor.
Her skin was dark and her hair was a messy tangle of braids, flowers, and moss that looked like it had never seen a comb. Maybe it hadn’t. Still, she looked lovely, he thought. The girl sat down, humming quietly and brushing her hands over the tall grass. After a few seconds she must have felt someone watching her, and she looked around, and then up, noticing Cam. She didn’t show any surprise at his presence, her lips just twitched slightly, and then she burst out laughing. Cam flushed with embarrassment and annoyance. That was uncalled for.
“Your face is covered in berry juice.” The girl called out, still giggling.
