So, I was bored and severally suffering from Olicity withdrawal and decided to go back and watch a few older episodes.
I started with 3x01 and I forgot how much I completely adore the first 20 minutes before it all blows up.
I mean really, we start with the LOVE FERN
Their little smiling faces, so in love and their complete lack of personal space.
And Digg and Roy’s faces in the background.
They totally had a bet going on how long it would take these two to get their act together.
AND SO FLIRTY FLIRTYÂ
The way he watches her walk away, and she looks back at him.
I just
AND FLUSTERED TWITTERPATED OLIVER TRYING TO ASK BAE OUT
Seriously, how can you not love them and their inability to keep the smiles from their faces.
Oliver is so flustered and nervous.
And it just kills me.
(Confession, I definitely watch the scene of Oliver asking Felicity out, any time I’m having a bad day.)
I can’t even with this
THE FIRST LOOKS!!!!1
AND DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE HUG
The way they’re both nervous and hesitant. They’re not sure what to do.
And then they just melt into each other
I pretty much spend the whole date not breathing because I love it so much.
And Oliver starts to open up to her. This is basically how I imagine the entire gap between season 3 and 4 going.
(Except, they’re both naked and in bed)
But with Oliver completely vulnerable and telling Felicity everything that he’s dreamed about telling her. And it’s like a weight has been lifted and he can finally breathe.
IT WAS RED
IT WAS RED
IT WAS RED
And even though everything blew up here, they still kill me. Bring me back from the dead and kill me again.
His little smile here.
He’s trying so hard to distance himself.
But he can’t.
THIS LOOK
Here, is his future.
He can see it all.
5 years from now, Felicity in the bed, holding their baby.
And he wants it.
He wants it all.
THESE TWO
THESE TWO ARE THE ONLY COUPLE THAT CAN BOTH BREAK MY HEART AND ALSO BE PUTTING IT BACK TOGETHER
Sorry, that ended up being a lot longer than I meant it to.

Crossover was great and all...but am I the only one who’s SLIGHTLY upset that for 3 episodes in a row Oliver and Felicity never spoke to each other??Â
Besides the vision, where Felicity was mostly talking to GreenArrow/John , “Talk to me” where they weren’t even looking at each other, and “do it” over the comms...It depresses me a little. I’m hoping there was a specific reason they called Antonio Negret for 509...and yet, I don’t think things are going to be much different from now for a long while.Â
Please someone explain to me the point of building them up for two whole fucking seasons, having them together for 14 episodes and then separated for double the time...ugh...
So Felicity knows how Oliver thinks...aka being the only one to really accept why Oliver did what he did at the end of episode 3x23...so Felicity doesn't know Oliver better than almost anyone...Felicity Smoak knows Oliver Queen better than ANYONE

When Oliver was in the island he made it clear that those were very terrible five years in which he had to withstand very extreme circumstances, and thus the arrow was created.
When Oliver joined the League, Ra's Al Guhl tortured him so thoroughly , that Oliver slipped back in the survival mode and thus Al Sah-him was created.
But who was the one who snapped him out of the first "kill or be killed" trance? Who was the one who according to Oliver himself was he able to see as more than a target or threat?
FELICITY.MEGHAN.SMOAK.
And if she did it once without even trying, she is gonna do it again. I have faith in this.
Seems to me that the only thing about Olicity for season 3 are rants. Â I was very optimistic about this pairing but what drove Olicity in the end was the chemistry between Stephen Amell and Emily Bett Rickards - NOT THE WRITING.
I'm so unimpressed with Season 3 writing. Â I'm not sure if this is because the team is now split between two shows but the writing for Season 3 is lack luster and Olicity is its biggest casualty. Â
The writers fed off the idea that Oliver should be a better man for Felicity - that all mighty goddess Felicity is too good for Oliver Queen. Â Gimme a break! Â Well we got what it wanted when it introduced a love triangle with Ray Palmer and Felicty acting completely out of character if you compare how she has been for the last two seasons!
I don't know if Olicity would be end game anymore. Â Maybe if their ratings stank so bad they will make it happen just to get a few more viewers. Â Frankly, they can even make Laurel and Oliver get back together but I doubt it would be believable considering how shoddy the writing has been lately. Â
I'm losing my interest on Felicity. Â Heck she can stay with Ray Palmer or she can have a foursome with Barry/Iris/Caitlin. Â Frankly, I don't care anymore. Â And this Felicity worship is beginning to tick me off.
So go ahead Arrow writers. Â Let go of Olicity.
But I'm sick of having Oliver Queen whipped to death . Â If Queen Goddess Felicity Smoak can have any man she bats her eyelashes on, then I hope the writers can give Oliver someone else to care for. Â It may not be Laurel, since that ship is too unbelievable to even work anymore. Â I want a simple girl for Oliver. Â Someone who can be patient for him. Who doesn't care about MIT degrees, subtle intellect flaunting and mad hacking skills! Â This girl can be a freakin waitress but just as long she is not bringing any freakin expectation about relationships with Oliver then I'm all for it!
Sorry Olicity. Â I still ship you. Â But right now, I need a break from you and this show. Â
And to the Arrow producers, you can take that imaginary Olicity carrot you have been dangling all of us and shove it somewhere else. Â
I'm seeing a lot of angry posts about how the beginning of s3 skipped over too much of the Olicity slow burn - that we didn't see how Oliver got from point A to point B.
But am I the only one that wasn't bothered by it, because Oliver has been in love with her literally since season 1? I've always believed that, but I think the writers took very specific steps to remind us of that, especially in the dinner scene. Wasn't that the whole point of Oliver confessing he'd been struck by Felicity since the first time he met her? Guys, he remembered the colour of the pen she was biting.Â
Oliver didn't need to realize his feelings for Felicity - he was already perfectly aware of them. Oliver is incredibly guarded, and so much of his survival as the Arrow depends on him being an actor. He's so good at it that he can make most everyone but Felicity buy his incredibly unbelievable bullshit, and that includes us as an audience. Oliver's feelings for Felicity aren't obvious in the way we're accustomed to. They're not blatant. There wasn't much dialogue or many camera tricks to clue us in to the fact that he was in love with her (the kind we got in this episode, like Oliver smiling after her when she left the room).Â
His love wasn't obvious, and it wasn't because he was ignorant of it, either. It was never a matter of Oliver going IT'S BEEN FELICITY ALL THIS TIME AND I NEVER KNEW IT. He knew it. We can tell he knew it, and it's from those small moments we always freaked out about - Oliver closing his eyes and sighing after explaining to Felicity he couldn't be with someone he could really care about (we all knew he meant Felicity and we know HE knew he meant Felicity), or the fact that he simply nodded when Diggle accused him of being jealous of Barry, like there was no point in even denying it.
And now we have dialogue confirmation that he knew all this time. I didn't get the feeling of the writers skipping development and just being lazy by LATER implying Oliver had been in love with her since the beginning - we already KNEW that because it's been obvious.Â
So the problem wasn't getting Oliver to realize his feelings for Felicity. THAT BOY KNEW. The problem was getting him to that point where he felt like it was safe for him to act on them. With Slade gone, and crime at an all time low, and Diggle encouraging him, Oliver was starting to feel like it was a good time for him to act on these feelings he's had for years.
I don't necessarily think we needed 4-5 episodes showing how Starling City was safer?
Oliver was literally just waiting for a green light.Â
