       It had been a few days since her arrival, and the girl was starting to get a feel for the city’s environment. She’d figured out how to get from one district to another, she’d learned which district was which, everything that was essential to adjusting to her new “home”. Needless to say, she was feeling pretty confident in her understanding of the place.

       Cue a random void in space opening up, not even a meter in front of Hibiki, with an older-looking woman sleepily poking her head out. Right in front of the younger girl.

              “--Eh?”

What a trite affair this was, she was in dire need of a new assistant. Especially seeing as her so called servant didn’t see the value in such things, but despite his attitude, she could tell he was not far.

Not as close as someone else.

There were those hints of mana she was getting better at tracing, but something familiar to her only in how alien in was. During her soft levitation home, she had seen tell-tale tears, or gaps if you would. And she knew, that if she had seen them then it was only because she had wanted her to. Eventually she had enough of being watched in silence.

“You know, it actually comes as no surprise at all to find you here.” There was faint accusation in her tone, but no credible malice. In an odd way, this one’s presence was more comfort than not.

Public transit.

Two words that might seem entirely innocuous at first.However, within her first week of having to actually utilize the service, Sophie had encountered, with varying levels ofdisgust: vomiting, crying children, crying adults,not to mention every sort of filth under the sun.

She could deal with those. Reluctantly, but she could dealwith them. What she could not dealwith, however, was having the person who sat next to her fall asleep on her. Sophie grimaced at the sudden heavy weight on her shoulder.

“….hmmmm…….” Makie lightly hummed. For the amount of people in this world Makie had witnesses many incredible people so far. Androids, lawyers, superhumans, she even heard stories from the NPCs about demons and the like. Hearing about so many apparitions and supernatural stuff, Makie was entertained a bit. Even if she had experienced it before, she still found it impressive in this particular setting. If only because the idea of demons and the like fit this place’s RPG like feel. 

But right now, Makie was intent on taking a nap. She had been walking for a bit to explore that she had exhausted all the adrenaline in her body...for now. 

And so Makie found a nice, cozy tree to lean up against and closed her eyes. Even if someone were to mug her in her sleep, there really wasn’t anything to take off of her besides the interface cube given to her upon arrival and her timepiece. And even then people would have to be really stupid to try and reach to her chest tot take it. 

“Wow, that’s such a classical look! You must have brought it with you right?”

From behind the woman who had only been minding her own business, Korwa appeared. A wide smile, white ears pointed high and wonder in her eyes.

          ❝ Ah! Miss, what you just did-- could you tell me a little bit more about it? ❞

          He had merely caught a glimpse of what she had done but it was evident she had walked through a-- portal? A form of transportation circle from another world? While it was true Aladdin could also use his own magic to get from one place to the other with relative ease given his practically unlimited supply of rukh, what he had just seen was obviously not the same. It lacked the magical circle that signified magical methods, and appeared almost demonic. Full of eyes. Still interesting, still new information that the young Magi craved to gather.

so this was the holy grail war.  he would have expected a bit more of a grand entrance than just popping up in a hallway and waiting for his master to show up from the door at the end.

and of course he would have absolutely expected it to be more grand than sitting in a hallway waiting for an hour.  what was taking them so long anyway?

you know what, that was long enough, he wasn’t gonna wait any longer

a lout crash echoed through the hallway as he kicked the door in only to find his-

wait was she sleeping?

“oy” he said, to no response, that was a yes

“well then,” he muttered, pulling his arms behind is back

“OY, OBA-CHAN” he shouted, bringing his hands together at full force, “WAKE UP!”
