I was tagged by my schmexy mutual @beatasticband for the usual Saturday night selfie.  It’s been one long week after getting out of the hospital and I am BEAT, mainly b/c I’ve been up with the sunrise every day with the cats wanting to be fed.  I am about to head off to bed very soon.

I think five or six years ago I said something to piss off @citywasaflame and to this day I am blocked from reblogging AFI stuff.    I’ve never even met this person, have no idea who they are or where they are and to my recollection, have never once interacted with them

This always boggles my mind..  Yes, by all means, keep the gate of the fandom locked so that you are the only one allowed to promote the band you adore so they’ll stay your little baby band forever since no one is capable of loving them as you are. I don’t see a great many AFI blogs on here, much like with HU, so please, by all means, make sure no other blogs have access to these posts so you can keep the fandom as “exclusive” as possible.

Twenty years ago when I entered the fandom someone asked me why I was searching for info on the band.  I said I had heard a few songs but it was the article in Rolling Stone that really piqued my curiosity.   I was told:  “YOU FOUND OUT ABOUT AFI FROM A MAGAZINE?!   A CORPORATE MAGAZINE THAT EVERYONE READS??  FUCK YOU.  DON’T LISTEN TO THEM ANYMORE.  THEY  DON’T NEED NEW FANS!   THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN  FROM NITRO DAYS. ARE THE REAL FANS” Some things never change. I get it, it’s not cool to be an old person.  It’s not cool to grow up.  You’re supposed to stay 14 forever and be cool and hip and know it all and like everything before anyone else did.  It’s nice to grow old with a band, to see them age and change and still love them despite of or because of those changes.
