Maggie was dreaming about the farm. Sunshine spilled through the windows, colored ivory by the lace curtains her mother had loved so much. She ran through the kitchen on bare feet after Beth, giggling at the smaller girl's excited screeches. All she could see was a flurry of blonde hair and the blue of her dress trailing behind her as she rounded the corner into the front hall where she hid behind their father, who was coming in from the barn. 

Hershel laughed as Beth peeked out from between his legs and shrieked again when she saw her sister still in pursuit. Maggie chased her out the front door and onto the porch. They were headed towards the field when Maggie woke up. 

The guard tower was bright with sunshine, too. She blinked, listening to the birds chirping outside. She couldn't feel Glenn against her back, had he rolled over again or had he already gotten up and gone to get something to eat? She rolled over to look for him.
