The #OldManofConiston has a large summit cairn (pile of rocks) which was handy to shelter behind, because It was really windy. The kind of windy that you measure in MPH and start calling “gale-force” instead. Where it feels like you’re fighting a battle with the wind. I refuelled, snapped some photos, gazed down at the town of #Coniston far below and prepared to make my descent! (at Old Man of Coniston)

✊🏼 when the random walker with a brightly coloured jacket walks into the shot! I went to a talk by a landscape/adventure photographer a while back, and one of his tips was to show a big landscape with a little human. // At this point I was tired, the weather was pretty bad, and my legs weren’t relishing the idea of running the 637m descent from the summit of the #oldmanofconiston to the car park... so I ended up walking with this walker and his wife. It’s not easy to hold a conversation watching your feet and being buffeted by wind and rain, while descending a mountain. But we did. I’ve found that anyone out climbing mountains in shitty weather will always have a good few things in common! (at Old Man of Coniston)
