Murphy's Romance - 1985
Back when Sally Field was a recent two time Oscar winner, 1979 & 1984, she made a cute movie with James Garner. I watched it for the umpteenth time the other day. It's still cute and while Sally was ok it was Garner who stood out.
Plot: Emma, a divorced mother with one son, buys a rundown horse ranch and tries to start her life over. Murphy is a widowed druggist and a hot property for the widows in town. He doesn't lack for dinner invitations. For some reason he falls for Emma and things are progressing until her ex-husband shows up, broke looking for Emma to take him in and take care of him. Things are dicey for awhile but in the end Murphy & Emma properly start their romance.
James Garner died in 2014, such as shame. His most recent memorable movie roll was in The Notebook and he was in TV's Maverick & The Rockford files...to name just a few of his roles.
