What's the difference between voila and voici

There isn’t any.🧍 I SWEAR IT’S NOT A JOKE when we speak casual French it doesn’t change the sentence at all to say “voici” or “voilà” like… Wtf why does this language want to be so annoying??? why did we invent such stupid and useless rules??? I… my language makes me despair I’m so sorry for you dude...😭

Hmm… apparently…

when you say “voici” it’s to point out something that’s close in space and time (basically something near)

and “voilà” is to point out something farther away in space and time (basically something far)

If it makes you feel better, no French person has ever heard of this rule...

But you know who might still be alive after all that time?

Arum.

Arum, who will have seen Rilla and Damien, and all of their friends, die. Arum, whose child may or may not be just as mortal as his human partners once where— we don’t know if she’s “immortal-ish” like her “immortal-ish” daddy.

So I’m imagining centuries and centuries down the line, maybe a millenium, maybe multiple, Arum hears about a half-human, half-monster girl who appears in The Universe.

And when he finds her, she remembers. She remembers Rilla and Damien. And she’s the only one left, or back, from that time. She’s the only one who remembers them.
