Do you think that Robert would at first have a difficult time adjusting to a coparenting lifestyle after being a single father for so long? I’ve been wondering how he would deal with the change of less responsibility and a mother figure in Morgan’s life.
I've thought a little about this, and I feel like it would be a struggle at first, mainly because they're both so different.
like Robert isn't a strict father at all, but he has a set of basic parent rules that Morgan has to follow (like ya know, bed time, and how much dessert she can have after dinner, etc etc. basic parent things) but Giselle... Giselle has literally never had to follow a rule in her life.
she was raised by animals!! the only rules she ever had were "don't go into that part of the forest" or "don't go into the woods at night" or "don't approach any trolls/ogres". Things like an actual bed time are foreign to her, she just fell asleep, and woke up whenever she wanted. and when it came to eating, she was foraging for her food, so she just ate whenever, and whatever she could find. the concept of "no sugar before dinner, it'll spoil your appetite" was truly mind blowing to her.
despite all that, she obviously did try to follow Robert's rules. she's new to all of it, and doesn't understand, but she still tries. but because she's never had to follow these kinds of rules before, AND she's never been a tiny human's caretaker before, I feel like she struggled quite a bit in the beginning. like, she got lucky that, when she first arrived, summer vacation was just about to start, so Robert was more lenient on things, but once school was back in session, Giselle struggled. some nights, when Robert was working late, she'd forget about those rules, and just let Morgan stay up with her watching movies. then Robert would finally get home, and be a little irritated because "she has school in a few hours, Giselle". other nights, Giselle would find it really hard to say no, because again, she never had to follow any silly rules like this, and well, saying no is hard!! how can she deny her favorite person another bowl of ice cream when she herself is eating more :((
anyway, I think that would lead to a few, very small bickering sessions between them - neither of them are mad about it for long, they always end up talking it out, but I do think that's a small issue they run into at the beginning!!
sorry, all that was more about Giselle, huh, uh, Robert !! I feel like, because he was doing it all on his own for so long, he'd forget sometimes that he can like. ask for help?? he probably moves on autopilot a lot, and maybe goes to call the babysitter but then Giselle reminds him, "Hey, I'm here now, silly. I'm more than capable of watching over her for the evening 🥰" and then he usually asks like, a million times, if she's sure that's okay. He'd panic because he overslept, which means Morgan probably overslept too, but then he finds her and Giselle already ready to go, and Giselle just smiling because "of course I woke her, silly, she has to go to school!"
idk I really do think he forgets that he can rely and lean on other people for things and has to be reminded that he's not alone anymore, that he has someone, and that someone isn't going to suddenly pack her bags up, and walk out, leaving only a letter behind.
also, it's never too bad, but I do think sometimes he'd get a little #jealous when Morgan chooses Giselle as the bedtime story reader over him. like hey :( that's been his job for six years :((( but he's also so happy that Morgan loves Giselle so much, so he can't be too upset. and Giselle ends up making it so they both read her a story, so he's not moping around about it for too long.
