You're absolutely right. I only realized the way the memories were centered a few days ago and thought it should be addressed. However because I didn't put it together til now neither did reader.

Wild/ botw Link and his memories have been somethings I thought about so often. He has no idea about his family, his hobbies, his dislikes, he only remembers a duty and maybe a few friends tied to that duty.

Reader is out here remembering about the chain which is great! Every Link has loved Reader deeply and been good to them! But like... that have no other memories. No idea of their friends or pasts or fears.

But I also have to say im rather surprised cia would help dark and onyx since she had a redemption arc in hyrule warriors after being rescued by Lana and king daphnes, let go of her obsession with link, helped destroy wind waker phantom ganon, then went to live with Lana in peace.

Did they threaten or blackmail her? Or perhaps convinced her that she could make up for her role in readers death in the past by making sure this reader didn't return to hyrule and die again?

So there's two answers to the 'why is Cia helping' question.

The official answer: Cia here isn't from the end of the game because portals mean time doesn't have to he linear or follow one pattern.

The honest answer: I haven't finished Hyrule Warriors and in avoiding spoilers managed to kiss the redemption arc. So... whoops? Although the Cia in the story was never exactly the Canon ending Cia anyway so it works.
