I just love her 💕💖💝💘💗💓 I never knew I needed a “modern girl in Middle Earth” fic, but I did. Without spoiling it all I can say is that she goes through a lot, and deserves a world. She is so sharp and brave and likable. And so multidimensional, the story and setup work so well in making you feel that. From the outside, from other characters’ POV, she’s legitimately a prophet with supernatural knowledge (real source of that knowledge notwithstanding), and she is a bit unhinged and feral, cause to survive wargs and giant spiders and worse things, she has to be. And the language barrier and resulting caveman-speech makes her seem simple, which is so effective that I, while reading, felt like my opinion of her was slightly influenced by that whenever she was trying to speak Westron.

And on the other hand, she’s sarcastic, she’s clever and thorough, she’s funny and optimistic, and doesn’t actually know what she’s doing a lot of the time, and is from another world and frame of reference than the people surrounding her. She’s all those things, and you know that depending on which of the characters you ask, you’ll get a different description of her.

The fic itself is a roller coaster, and sometimes the “everybody lives” tag is a blessing, and sometimes it’s a curse, because hell, this fic doesn’t even need to kill anyone to make you cry. I found it by browsing Bilbo/Thorin tag, and I stayed for Freya.
