tbh true. it also makes it feel like the author doesn't have enough faith in themselves to properly analyze the character and use their own judgement to see what fits and what doesn't. Besides, it's a good learning experience to use your own analytical skills ! You can only get better if you try.
​At absolute minimum, beyond just for fun, it *could* be used to get a very, very general overview of the character before actually diving into doing your own analysis of the source material and applying that to your work, if nothing else because those tropes associated with the character means the most popular *interpretation* of that character. That in itself can be fun to analyze, really, but not to take seriously if you're writing serious fanfic.
