his head cants to one side, something devious lights up in his eyes. there are some answers he’s too young for, but there are also some questions he can ask only because he’s young: “ — what’s the deal between you two anyways?”

        PAPERS ARE HELD IN HIS HANDS,  comparing receipts and orders, when two catch his eye enough to bring up to his boss. ❝ hondo, i was looking over the last few, um, shipments, and it looks like someone didn’t deliver. or at least didn’t deliver what was agreed upon. ❞

                                    sure.

❝     i   can   give   you   the   coordinates   of   their   drop   points ,   details   of   their   transports ,   names   of   their   suppliers .   the   works   .   .   .      ❞               wrist   rolls   through   vague   hand   gestures ,   stopping   only   to  slip   toothpick   from   between   his   teeth ;   soon   to   be   flicked   aside ,   but   first   jabbed   in   direction   of    the   other   to   punctuate ,             ❝     FOR   A   PRICE  .      ❞ ​​

      ❝ NOW WHEN HAVE I EVER-❞  he doesn’t even finish, stopping himself mid-sentence as he realizes his question, while perhaps rhetorical, would open himself up to a string of incidents where he did, in fact, fuck things up.  ❝ forget i said that. fine, how would YOU do it, hondo ? ❞

tonia, you really have wormed your way into my heart and i mean that absolutely lovingly ( i love worms 😔 ); your skill as a writer really blows me away between not just your writing but the variety of muses you have, and you’re just such a genuinely funny and bright force of nature every time i see you on the dash! i wish you the best holidays and as calm and kind  end of 2020 as it can offer 💙💙💙
