We Pool thoughts and contemplations
Today I was swimming laps in the pool, when randomly being aware of the depth of the pool (which was about 5 and a half feet deep) reminded me of a few years ago when I was out at sea on a sailboat I worked on, and it was a slow day with very little wind, so our captain did a swim call, so were in the middle of the Pacific Ocean taking turns jumping of the side. And when your in the middle of a vast Ocean, the only thing floating for miles and miles it makes you feel so small, not in a bad or demeaning way, but in a wow the universe and God are so much bigger than me kinda way, so when I jump in I have this massive awareness that there's hundreds of fathoms of water beneath me, and also who knows what swimming below me, and when you jump in, you just go down, until your momentum slows and you begin to swim back up to the surface, and just the knowing that theres no bottom that you can reach in this body of water that you just jumped into is the most exhilarating, scary, adventurous, breathtaking, experience. So while swimming laps today realizing that I was subconsciously aware of the bottomness of the pool, reminded me of that day of my complete awareness of the lack of reachable bottom and the feelings it brought that day.
