* — starter call. // @ohireath
a night spent on a cold, hard bench, with cuffs secured ‘round his wrists and ankles, gave him a lot of time to think. first, it was that he was foolish for deciding to go solo the night before, and inevitably when gi-gan would learn of this, he’d be scolded properly. second was that he hated cops, something he had already been sure of, but that hatred was solidified as the night grew longer. third, about a few hours in and after learning he’d have to wait until the morning to be arraigned, he thought about breaking out — he could easily shatter these cuffs and break the jail door and fly — but that would give them the proof they needed; they already had his name and his face and he didn’t need to give them anything else.
lastly, he thought about who he should call. not calling gi-gan was simply putting off the inevitable, but he wanted to try to handle it himself before he had to involve them. and he’s not really sure why it’s her name that pops into his mind, but she’s one of the few numbers he remembers and someone he trusts — at least enough to go to her with this.
❝ — hey, ashley, ❞ his voice comes oddly quiet, headset pressed between his cheek and his shoulder. he glances at the guard not far from him, careful with his words. ❝ listen, i know it’s early, but i need your help. i’ve sort-of … been arrested. and yes, i’m actually being serious. ❞
