I always thought it was bullshit, but the longer I’ve been a parent, the more the whole gender-ization of how humans are raised becomes more and more undeniably bullshit. And while I do as much as I can and am trying so, so hard to do the best I can by my kids (and make no mistake, I make no claims of being infallible here), sometimes it feels like I am so outnumbered by the “you need THIS haircut because you’re a boy, honey!”/“you can’t come with us because this is a just-boys thing”/“only the girls would want to do that, so...” parents that it just...ugh.
