You will not let go. You will not let go because–because you love them. Your hold bruises their skin, makes it tender and so very painful. Blood vessels pop and cloud on the surface, fingers soak with the colour of sky and blackberry fields and still–still you hold on. You cannot imagine their hand not in yours, their warm palm not against your freezing one. They cry silently, turn their head away. You hold them tighter because you do not want them to cry, you want them to be safe. They cry harder. You love them so much, dont you?
