[ John’sbirthday is kind of an open secret in that it’s not really a secret, everyoneknows how old he is (46 as of his next birthday), it’s published in newspapersaround the world, and without fail, there is no small delivery of food andother small gifts and cards from fans.

It really alldepends on how he’s feeling in the lead up to his birthday. If he intends tohave a big celebration that’s open to the public, he’ll generally startplanning it about a month in advance down to the decorations and which actswill show up. This year, he’s feeling something more low key and hasn’tactually mentioned it to anyone.

When he doesn’tactively broadcast his birthday, but still wants to celebrate it, he’ll usuallytell the crew at the Orbiting Human Circus cos they’re the closest thing he hasto family right now; Carey already knows, but on those years, John will gentlyremind him and if Carey can get away from his other obligations, he’ll showup….. Sometimes, John regrets not planning something bigger for himself andbegins to think that no one actually cares/knows and will low-key mention it tobaristas when he’s getting his coffee because he wants attention.

This year though, there was no advance notice so if someone knows they’veeither remembered from a past year or read it in the paper. John is a littleoverwhelmed at work right now and instead of planning, was either putting outmetaphorical fires or sleeping.

☾ - sleep headcanon

John Cameron mostly sleeps on his stomach, occasionally onhis side. And has a tendency to cuddle with one of the pillows on his bed whenhe sleeps on his side. Could probablyuse a few more blankets, to be honest.

☠ - angry/violent headcanon

John takes out his anger at situations at himself if there’snot a direct thing to pinpoint as the cause of whatever the problem is. WhenJulian annoys him, there’s a direct cause that he can get frustrated at andyell at. When it’s seemingly nobody’s fault, he tends to blame himself forwhatever situation.

In episode 3, this presents itself as “This is your fault for letting the cricket out,but it’s mostly my fault fortrusting you when I knew you weren’t trustworthy to begin with. I deserve this.Push me off the tower.”

In the most recent episode it takes the form of “I shouldhave tried harder with the PBC to keep the polar bear from being installedhere, I should have fired Julian ages ago. Everything is ruined and I couldhave prevented this. Feed me to the polar bear.”

And since the two incidents were so close to each othertimeline-wise, John really feels like a fuckup for the polar bear incidenthaving already gotten into hot water over the cricket incident.

And despite his frequent bluster that he’s going to strangleJulian, he wouldn’t actually kill Julian. (Not to say he wouldn’t strangle him…just…. not to death.)

☆ - happy headcanon

John’s happiest when he’s composing music. He’s just so good at it. It’s sometimes frustratingnot being able to come up with which note should follow the previous one, notonly logically and melodically, but for the song he’s aiming to compose. Hetends to write pop music (and it charts really high when he does), but he’swritten and performed less mainstream wares both under his name and underassumed names. He’s also contributed songs to other acts, but he’s proudest ofthe work he’s kept for himself since the control freak in him can control everyaspect of the production and have it turn out exactly the way he hears it in his head.

John’s fashion sense is like his face claim, John CameronMitchell’s, but on a far vaster scale. Whereas JCM has less than thirty suitsin interesting patterns, John Cameron has an assortment and they range frommore flattering, but kind of out there styles like one in light lilac to moreoutlandish and outright loud plaids.
