Out of all the new shows, which ones would you recommend?
Of the shows that have aired so far:
The Blacklist had the strongest premiere I've seen this year and has remained thrilling for the last couple of weeks (pulling it off a lot better than Hostages, which I'm also enjoying but not as much). The cast is solid, the plot is interesting (lots of twists and turns and backstabbing to come ITS GONNA BE AN INTENSE SEASON), and now there's a RELUCTANT TEAM OF SPIES as the main group, half of which are poc WATCH THIS SHOW GUYS OKAY
Sleepy Hollow, though tumblr seems to have been loving this one so you're probably already watching it lmao. But if you're not, you should! It's a supernatural take on a procedural and it works reaaally well - like Elementary but with witches and demons and the apocalypse so like what's not to love really
Of the new comedies I'm enjoying Brooklyn 99 and The Michael J Fox show the most - both have solid casts that dont seem like they're struggling to be too funny and have really rapport. The Goldbergs and Trophy Wife are also really charming and if they get picked up I'm excited to see where their seasons go.
Witches of East End! Obviously this won't be for everyone, if you can't stomach a little bit of cheesiness look elsewhere, but if you're a fan of Charmed/Practical Magic/supernatural shows centered on women, definitely give it a shot! I loved the pilot and all the main characters (which almost NEVER happens) and am excited for the rest of the season. Way wayyyy better than flop show Eastwick, which had a similar premise.
A lot of shows are still to air - I'm excited for Almost Human and Intelligence, which both look really good, and Dracula, which looks terrible but I will watch anyway because lmao who am I. The CWs new premieres begin this week and you can count on me watching them (REIIIIGN), and I think I'll give Ravenswood a go too (pretty little liars lost my interest, but maybe supernatural hijinks will be enough to keep me watching).
P.S. okay, let's talk the elephant in the room - SHIELD. Im ngl I was pretty underwhelmed (maybe because I had such high expectations? maybe because it looked like some kind of 90's fever dream cross between Relic Hunter and x men? we may never know), but I'm willing to stick it out and see where they go with it. The characters need development and they need to establish dynamics fast, but I think it can definitely improve over time. (I watch it with my family and they really love it so ymmv lmao)
